    Volcanoe land!
Went on a coach trip to this site. I would recommend going by bus, as independent car travellers queue for hours to get in. Coaches have priority and allow you to see most of the park, whilst cars have limited access. I'd recommend using local tour companies, rather than Tui, as its much cheaper. Our guide Michael, was funny and very informative. Would recommend this outing.

Amazing location. The coaches let it down massively.
We were obviously excited to visit here as it’s a must do when visiting the Island. We booked our own tucked and drove so we had the freedom to visit when we wanted. All went very smoothly but if you’re doing the same be aware of the limited parking. It was quiet when we went and still had to queue for a space for 20 mins. I should imagine if you go in the summer then you’d have no chance so book a coach trip. Once there as predicted it was Stunning. We ate chicken cooked over the lava tube in the restaurant and had some drinks with amazing mountains as a backdrop. We were treated to the display by the staff where they show you the steam tubes and let you touch the hot stones etc. Also amazing and the staff were lovely. My criticism comes with the coaches that take you around the closed road route to show you the volcanos. Firstly you have to wear a mask even though Covid has long since gone and you don’t have to wear them anywhere else. Conveniently they will sell you one for a euro as nobody had one & they had plenty in stock suggesting that this is solely a money making spin. I would have rather paid 2 euros to not wear a mask. Then the coaches that they use are tourist coaches with low roofs heavily tinted windows. As such you can’t see anything above you which is most things and everything is grey and green. The whole point of the trip is to see all of the amazing colors and this is explained with there commentary. It’s such a disappointment that you can’t see any of it. You’d think that if the whole point of the coach tour was to see the mountain in all its glory then surely have clear windows or even open top busses. Everybody was trying to look down the aisle out of the drivers window as that glass was clear. How can they have got everything else so right but this part so wrong. I don’t want to be a moaner as we had a lovely day & everything else was so amazing. Hopefully they will change this at some point & people can enjoy the mountain as it’s supposed to be seen.

#1 attraction in Lanzarote for a good reason!
Fantastic sights- craters, volcanos, lava lakes. Equally good for both adults and kids. Very different compared to any other Canary island and it's fascinating to see the black landscape. The kitchen from hell(Diablos kitchen) is very interesting as well. Stays constantly at over 300c. The pit is around 10-15m deep and it's amazing how it cooks the food so fast. Restaurant is ok, pricey but was expected and very limited dishes. We reached around 11.30am, car parking took 30mins, queue was another 20mins. Either reach at 9-10am or plan for 1pm. When we returned there was no queue whatsoever. Similar timeline for cueva de Verdes which was equally interesting with brilliant surprise at the end!

    Solo Drive into the park
Nice place, very windy the day I was there. Excellent road network up to the summit, restaurant with toilets all fine. it's not a geyser though, staff pour water into the hot rocks which creates a small jet into the air. Good day out in the winter sun.

    Scary and beautiful lava scenery
We visited the Timanfaya National Park on our half day island tour. The scenery was breathtaking, and a little scary, even in the safety of a tour bus. Visitor Center was a nice little stop.

    Totally amazing
Suggest you book a coach tour to do this:- 2 reasons:- 1. There were cars queuing for 3 hours to get in, the coach just blasts past all of these. 2. The coach drives for miles through this Luna landscape, cars are prohibited. There are amazing geothermal demonstrations. It’s a must. Great coffee shop, you can even have your steak cooked over lava, Almost!

    Adequate
Went in rental car, queued for only around 20 mins. Geezers ok, bus tour alright, they request masks at a cost of €1, took our own. English description on bus seemed like a direct translation of the Spanish by someone very non enthused, it didn't really work. The whole tour got a bit boring, especially for an eight year old. Can't rate the cafe as didn't go in. In fact it was all a bit disappointing, they could make more of it.

    Great place to visit
Well worth the trip into the lava fields and up around the old volcano's. Feels like you could be on another planet driving through. So great examples of the power of the earth up at the visitor centre. ie Cooking on the heat from a vent is a great eco friendly idea! A must place to visit if your on Lanzarote

    A nice trip out excursion
Came here on an organised excursion on a coach frommpertu del Carmen.. its good to see the barren land and a couple of neat tricks to display how hot the volcanic area is. Would say it is better to come by coach as I could see plenty of cars queuing up to get in the area There's a cafe/restaurant at the top too. I also visited jameos del agua and mirador del rio

Unforgettable morning touring this park - a truly unique experience.
Fantastic excursion through this park. An unforgettable experience. Would definitely advise booking a tour bus rather than trying to go under your own steam - no queuing to enter the park, and only your buses and park buses can your inside the park anyway. Amazed at the skill of the coach drivers navigating the narrow hairpin bends! Touring this park is essential to understanding the landscape and culture of the island.

Unbelievable experience as we witnessed the power of volcanic nature in a safe environment. The experiments showing the hest from just under the surface were amazing and the landscape is almost out of this world. There is also great options for trekking on well marked trails. We went on the easier one, flat land but one which circled a crater , let you walk into another, and generally showed how the cooled lava had created this magnificent landscape

As all the other reviews would say, get there early in the morning and avoid the queue to save yourself lots of pain. We arrived around 09:15 and only had a short wait at the gate before being let into the car park.
On the bus, some reviews recommended to sit on the right, I'm not so sure about that, there were views either side. If anything, sit near the front as the front window offers a better vantage point than the side.
My reason for a 4* rather than a 5* is also down to this bus ride; whilst I can understand their need to conserve the area, it would have been nice to have some stops included.
Otherwise, the rest of the experience was fine. For those planning to see other sights, it is worth considering the multi-centre ticket.

Absolutely amazing, we did the South Tour booked through Jet 2. Picked up from local bus stop in Puerto del Carmen. Travelled up to national park, had a walk round by restaurant and given several demonstrations by trained staff. Then back on bus for tour through the park. Absolutely stunning scenery, like being in another world, awesome.
Then onto el Golfo to the green lake, again amazing scenery.
Finished off ot Bodega for wine tasting.
Fabulous trip out.

Timanfaya National Park is unlike any place I've ever visited. Stepping into this otherworldly landscape feels like embarking on a journey to the heart of the Earth itself. The barren, moon-like terrain, shaped by volcanic eruptions, is both awe-inspiring and surreal.

As we drove through the park, our senses were immediately overwhelmed by the sheer power of nature. The desolate plains, dotted with twisted, petrified lava formations, create a sense of isolation and wonder. The guides at Timanfaya do an excellent job of explaining the park's geological history and the ongoing volcanic activity beneath our feet.

The highlight of our visit was the "Fire Mountains." Watching a guide demonstrate the incredible heat still present just a few meters below the surface was a jaw-dropping experience. It's a testament to the raw, untamed forces that continue to shape this environment.

The "camels of Timanfaya" added a unique touch to our visit. Riding these gentle creatures across the lava fields provided a distinct perspective of the rugged beauty that surrounds you.

While the landscape may appear inhospitable, life does manage to find a way to thrive here. The green vineyards that contrast with the black volcanic soil are a testament to human ingenuity and determination in harnessing nature's potential.

Timanfaya National Park is a place where you truly feel connected to the Earth's geological history. It's a humbling experience that makes you appreciate the beauty and power of our planet. If you're in Lanzarote, this is a must-visit destination that will leave you with lasting memories of a unique, volcanic wonderland.

We arrived at the road near the volcano entrance (weekday) at 10am and waited in the queue for 20 mins. At 10.20am we joined the queue (no turning back now) and paid 12 Euro each then we queued for 2 hours in the car wondering what was going on. It said 90 mins from the payment area.

There are no toilets at the payment area or in the queue and it’s volcanic land so no bushes to hide behind. (We did find a visitor centre on our drive out towards El Grifo so perhaps that’s your option before a visit).

Coaches and taxis get priority so cars are at a standstill to allow them past. We’d recommend this option.

On arrival at the volcano the parking is very organised with people telling you where to park. Clean toilets with no queues, the restaurant and visitor shop.

You get on a coach to take you on a tour of the area. There’s no rush to do this and when we were ready we waited for the bus for 5 mins. You could eat in the restaurant before or after for example.

The tour is about 30 mins and in a couple of languages. The different rock formations and views are really good to see and breathtaking. It was a good atmosphere on the bus.

There’s a lot of talk about what to wear but mostly you’re in a car queue or on a bus. It’s not really the place where you’re walking outside lots. We wore shorts and shirts. Perhaps it’s not important if you’re on a coach and not allowed back on for a while.

The restaurant was large so we were easily seated but not by the window. The chicken was a bit dry and the sauce lacked taste but it was exciting to eat it. My husband had chorizo which were lightly flavoured sausages. We could probably have shared a chicken.

We combined this with a visit to El Griffo vineyard museum/tasting and El Golfo green lagoon (had a road diversion)

We went with lineas Romeo's, could of been so much better. We only stopped at volcanic mountain for 20 minutes. Before we got there we stopped at aloe Vera museum for more than an hour and restaurant there was brutal. Wine tasting was a disgrace, only allowed small drop of one the wines. Other places to book which allow you to ride camels which be so much better. Also restaurant at volcanic mountain which would been alot better. Waste of a day due to the guides in lineas romeos. We where rushed but stopped for over an hour at a disgrace of a restaurant.

I was lucky enough to visit the National Park twice - on a free walking tour with one of the park guides and then on a bus tour. The guided tours are like gold dust with limited places which are released via the Park's website a month or so beforehand. I was looking every day for weeks to see when they would be released for the week of my visit and managed to get the last space on the day that I wanted.

On the day I got the bus to Yaiza to meet up with the other participants in the main square where the guide met us and drove us to the starting point of the walk. Having been to Iceland a number of times I fam familiar with volcanic landscapes and in some ways this is not that different but of course the climate in Iceland is totally different as are the types of lava and the limited vegetation - no fig trees there! We walked for a good couple of hours all the way down into one of the lava tubes which was incredible. Numbers are limited to I think 10 participants which makes it all the better as you are able to ask all the questions you need. Most of the time I just walked though and gazed at the landscape, drinking it all in.

Of course you need good boots with proper ankle support for this sort of thing - you could in theory manage with trainers but this is not really a good idea - proper boots are much better as volcanic landscapes are pretty sharp and cheap shoes are easily damaged. Sunscreen, water and a light jacket or windproof are also recommended - during the winter months at least. I wouldn't consider a walk like this personally at that time of year as for me it would far too hot.

The bus tour was a different kettle of fish altogether - you drive through the largest of the lava tube and so in some ways have an even closer view but of course you can't smell or touch it. There is a commentary but it was so quiet that I couldn't hear a word of it. I am glad that I had the chance to do both however, and would do both again. The National Park walk was the best for me though. Several different ones are offered on different days of the week - I relied on public transport so couldn't get to all of them, but whichever one you choose they are all worth going on and they are all free, with no need even to tip.

We read the reviews and went early, got there by 8.50. When we left at 10.40, the queue was so long, all within the park from the entrance to the car park and outside the park, all along the road. If you go, definitely go early or much later.
The experience is great and you can learn a lot about the volcanoes in Lanzarote.

The volcano is amazing. The camel rides are cruel and uncessary. Those poor animal are ridden all day in the heat. Why can't people see how cruel it is.
