It was worth finding this gem as not too busy and it has an area where you can eat. The snorkelling was good but the sea was rough but even holding onto the front bits the fish were there in all their glory. It is...More

Surrounded by volcanic rocks, Cala de Tacoron with its calm waters is a must-see spot on El Hierro. Peace and quiet plus various fishes if you are into snorkelling. Had I known about it, I would not have spent so much time in the nearby...More

This is a very small natural bay in an old lava flow with a narrow opening which keeps the sea calm enough for swimming. Several swimming pool steps have been placed around the bay making it easy to get in and out of the water...More

If you do not want to swim it is hardly worth visiting Playa de Tacaron. It is incorrectly called a Playa as there is no beach just swimming from volcanic rocks, with some metal steps to get into and out of the water. One would...More

Take your time, stay there, feel the place - if you don't like wide beaches with sun beds and crowd - you'll like it. Nice place for snorkling and enjoying raw nature. But! Like at some other unexpected places on El Hierro (mountains, forrest) -...More

Cala de Tacaron is on the most sheltered coastline of El Hierro. It is often possible to swim there when winds/waves are strong deterrents elsewhere. It is also warm - up to ten degrees warmer than in capital Valverde. Most of the paths and "lazing"...More
