Historic building in the historic area of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria
Jan 2020
The historic area of Vegueta in the heart of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, is worth discovering while walking quietly through it, among wonderful colonial buildings, small churches, charming squares, bars and restaurants and the imposing Cathedral of Santa Ana is located this beautiful and historical museum that shows part of the history of one of the most important characters in the history of Spain, Christopher Columbus.

Christopher Columbus Museum
Oct 2019
Normally when somewhere is advertised as a museum you would expect some information re the person/place. Nothing at this venue mentions Christopher Columbus. Very disappointed. The church nearby is fantastic and another museum not far from here is fantastic.

Beautiful music as part of a well presented historical exhibit.

Christopher Columbus features prominently in La Gomera. He stayed there provisioning before setting of for the New World(or China as he had supposed) The pottery and other artifact exhibits show how different the New World he discovered was!
An art display on the upper floor was made very special by live music played by James Kline using a unique musical instrument combining an 11 string Arch Guitar and 19 string arch harp guitar, A truly special experience.

Considering the significance of the building with the Colombus connection so much more could have been made of this building

We were told to go and have a look at the house, wish we hadn't bothered. It wasn't that well signposted and not a lot to see.

If you happen to go near this, you might as well go in, but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it. Interesting building though.

Could have been so much more

Columbus apparently spent his last night here in September 1492 before leaving to discover North America. No effort has been made to illustrate this fact and you walk around a bare house with no indication of its history.

Not what I expected.

I was a little bit disappointed as I expected Columbus-themed display and there's very little of it - and all the information is in Spanish only.
