One of the four
Dec 2019
It is one of the four national parks found in the Canary archipelago. Visiting it, either on foot, or using a tourist transport does not leave anyone indifferent.

La Gomera is a small island, and therefor the scenery is varied yet compact, with spectacular views over mountains and ocean

A magnificent walk and one of the highlights of our week in Gomera
Jan 2019 • Couples
The walk we did from the main centre is about 11km and billed as 4 hours, but I think most people would not take that long. There is a quicker option to park much closer to the peak - I'm guessing that might be a 4km circuit - but whichever way you do it, the last part is going to be steep. The views from the peak, though, are really tremendous and worth the effort. From this spot you can see the entire island of Gomera, but we also had a great view of Tenerife and Mount Tiede.

This was one of the highlights of our week in Gomera and I would definitely do it again.

Go if only to say you’ve reached the top!

We walked to here, the highest point on La Gomera having parked 150m below, a walk of about 20 minutes each way. There are a few signboards to explain about the site and its location. Originally it is believed that this is where the final stand took place between the locals and the Spanish invaders. The locals used this place as a worship centre to their gods but were slaughtered here. As expected, assuming there’s no mist, the views are amazing. From here there are a number of walking trails to take to make it worth putting your boots on.

Stunning views
Mar 2018 • Family
The vews from the top is stunning. Walk there on a clear day. Not only do you see all of La Gomera, but also Teneriffe, El Hierro, La Palma and Gran Canaria.
This is not a good place to visit when the weather is bad.
There is a little exibition about the guanche people and signs about the national park including about the devastating fire of 2012.
You can park at Pajarito or at the Contadero parking below.

Highest point of the island - great views if the clouds aren't down!
Jan 2018 • Friends
We came up here twice during a 2-week walking holiday on the island: the first time the whole of the Garajonay park was in thick cloud, with rain at times and fairly strong winds, and we could see virtually nothing. It shows you why the cloud forest across the high centre of La Gomera is so lush, of course - and that rain and cloud is essential to maintaining the ecology of the island and its water supply. The second time we were up there it was clear, sunny, and the views were truly dramatic. Just as promised you really can see 4 of the other Canary Islands on a clear day - El Hierro, La Palma, Gran Canaria and Tenerife - and it's a wonderful sight. Do also get to one of the Visitors Centres on the island though, and watch one of the excellent film shows that illustrate and explain much about the flora and fauna on the island: the Centre above Agulo, near the Mirador de Abrante, is particularly good. And do take a walk along one of the many signed paths or routes around the summit, as well as the excellent paved track from the nearest parking places up to the summit, and enjoy the laurisilva forest and the fairly unique collection of species you'll see there.
