I loved the city hall building at night with the lights all lit up, but the trees in the plaza were very interesting. A nice place for a walk. The carousel in the park outside was neat.

The City Hall was once a casino where Mata Hari worked, so it is worth a walk through to see the architecture and experience some of the history. Also worth a walk by at night as it is lit up quite well.

On this particular day, the interior of the city hall was open to walk thru for free. It is beautiful, but just as beautiful outside. I believe it was open because this city has received the reward of Capital Europea de la Cultura 2016 award.

Beautifull building. Even better because whilst we were there the building was lit up, there was music and fireworks to celebrate the European city of culture

Nothing special. Architecture is nice. You can walk around it but that seems to be about it. Right next to old city. You can't miss it.

If you are visiting the old town, you will likely see the city hall. For the small size of San Sebastian, this was an incredible building.

We tried to work out what the City Hall had been before our visit...just for fun. Never guessed it started as a casino. It should have been obvious given the rich look of the town. Anyway it is a lovely and impressive building.

What became the City Hall in 1947 was originally built in 1882 as a casino and venue for the Belle Époque elite visitors and aristocracy. During World War I, the casino was filled with political refugees and spies (such as Mata Hari) fleeing the fighting in the north. During the Spanish Civil War, the building was also caught up in... Beautiful building at the edge of old town. Not sure if you can enter it, we just strolled around this beautiful building before entering the old town. The parc in front of city hall is nice too.
