The museum is at the moment free due to a rebilding project so worth visitng. Artworks either appeal or not as is the case in most galleries. Very spacious, beautifully maintained and lovely staff. Cafe in the park opposite can be recommended.

The collection itself is quite interesting but I particularly enjoyed the various temporary exhibitions, they were all extremely interesting!

We really enjoyed this relatively small museum which, however, boasts some excellent works including by Goya, Murillo, Gauguin, Zuloaga and a fantastic Sorolla. There is also a good modern collection which we found more accessible than the Guggenheim. The museum boasts a nice bar/cafe with outside seating and a good shop which enhanced our experience. Entry was free when we visited.

Very interesting paintings, clearly presented in a didactic manner. Well lit, well ventilated, very pleasant.
A nice shop and coffee shop, serving good wine and pintxos at very reasonable prices. Loved my visit. Strongly recommend.

I visited on a weekday evening between 6 and 8pm when it's free admission. I had expected crowds but it was pretty empty; in fact in the last gallery I was the only person in there! Note unlike many other museums it's closed on Tuesdays.
I like the way they have displayed the paintings by theme rather than by period but that might be because I was a visitor and I probably saw a wider selection than if I had just stuck to the periods I prefer.
If I visit again I will buy an audio tour as I could have done with a bit more information about the art but for a first visit I was pretty happy.

This is a must-see museum the collection is beautiful and is very ranging in genres. Well worth a visit I would suggest this museum over the Guggenheim. Note the museum is closed on Tuesday.

This Fine Arts Museum is very enjoyable. You can see a few of each of Goya and el Greco, but most are local artists.
All pieces are arranged alphabetically, which at first I was skeptical, but turned out to augment my appreciation.
Seeing a Medieval painting, followed by a modern one, followed by a nice Renaissance one provided an exceptional contrast. Highly recommended.

This exceeded my expectations. Loved the layout theme of A to Z. Very few customers in Covid times, think I was the only one. High recommend

Decided to check out the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum as they offered free entry to their permanent exhibition at a set time in the evening. Unfortunately we found that the employees weren't forthcoming with information and we also felt as though they did not want us there. Basically what you need to do is go to the service counter and request for the free ticket for entry. The lady at the counter was unfriendly and handled our belongings roughly. Thankfully, there was at least one professional employee who handed us our entry ticket and thankfully was the one whom returned our belongings from their storage area. If you are interested in some local based art and have 30 minutes to spare, it is not such a bad idea for a quick visit.

The director has decided to arrange the artworks based on a theme of the alphabet rather than chronologically. This gimmick seems to be in vogue now unfortunately.
Notwithstanding that there are some decent artworks in the permanent collection. The Prado it ain't but is worth the price of admission just for the 3 Zurbaran paintings.
The special exhibitions by 2 Basque artists were of little note.

Hello, meliBari
The "Artean Pass" is a ticket for combined entrance to both the Guggenheim and the Fine Arts Museums.
Unfortunately, for logistical reasons, it's not possible to buy it online.
But it can be buyed at the the reception desk of both museums anytime, and also in several automated teller machines of the BBK bank throughout the city.
We hope this helps. For any other query or information, please feel free to ask again.
Thanks for your interest in our museum.
