CHILLIDA-LEKU is an outdoors museum that gathers the work of Eduardo Chillida (San Sebastián 1924-2002) in the properties of “Zabalaga farmhouse”, constructed in 1594 at the town of Hernani (Guipúzcoa-Spain). 10 kilometers far from San Sebastián, 40 sculptures of great format stand out on the ground of 12 hectares and a hundred small format works and drawings, created during 50 years of work, appear inside the restored farmhouse. In the same town in 1951, after his brief Parisian experience, Eduardo Chillida began his works in the forge of a blacksmith.

We had the place to ourselves and what a treat. The grounds the studio, the artwork were all amazing. I believe you have to still email the foundation to get access to see the grounds and studio. Worth the extra effort.

Went here years ago now, but have been thinking of it again recently. Chillida's work is superb and the museum was really well laid out. Really worth the trip.

Our wonderful hosts at the Pension Bellas Artes told my wife and I needed to pay a visit to the Chillida museum. This was emphasized even more by the the fact that apparently they were closing at the end of 2010. Personally I am not...More

We loved San Sebastian, but we found it a cultural desert, at least as far as art and galleries and museums were concerned. This beautiful place and art refreshed us like an oasis. It seems that the Basque government does not wish to support it,...More

Questions & AnswersAsk a question
Is the museum still closed even though it is San Sebastian's year as European City of Culture? We couldn't find out in order to visit and it was too far to take the risk. The website says both that it is open 24hours a day and that it is clear see. Which is it, Trip Advisor? Thanks.
