Already more than 100. Squares and intersections will soon end.
Jun 2019
The capital of Asturias is a stylish city with a rich history. It couldnёt pass by the epidemic of monument installation of the last 30 years. There are about 100 of them in the city and apparently Oviedo is close to running out of squares and intersections to install them. Some of them are quite stylish like La Vida and La Regenta, some with humor (La bella Lola, Stew.). There`s the provocative sculptor Botero with his aesthetic of the ugly, who filled the whole of Yerevan with his sculptures, but spared Oviedo (only 1 sculpture). Fans of art-house movies are certainly looking for a statue of American Director Woody Allen who shot his next neurotic film "Vicky, Christina, Barcelona" including in Oviedo and captured in bronze for this. All this doesn`t cause negative emotions, except for the monument to dictator Franco in Plaza Espana. Descendants of hundreds of thousands of repressed Republicans are demanding the removal of the bronze Caudillo, which offends the memory of the victims with its presence. And judging by the decision of the court in the Valley of the fallen, the Republicans will achieve justice in Oviedo.

Modern Blemishes on an otherwise pleasant and somewhat historic area
Oct 2019
Not a fan of modern art, I believe it has its place in modern areas. Not sure why Oviedo funded and planned these

Astonishing
Oct 2019 • Family
Every corner you turn, the is a sculpture of any kind. Only a couple are abstract, the rest are pure art. I believe you can spend one day just visiting every one.

An urban sculpture park
Jul 2019 • Friends
Two of the enjoyable things to do as you explore the city centre is to look upwards at the old architecture and stop and investigate the different bronze sculptures by a variety of artists that are located in key points, popular with tourists for photographs.

More cities should copy this initiative as it adds to the culture of the city.

Beautiful street art with sculptures around
Mar 2019
There's are a lot of sculptures around every corner in Oviedo city center. Really beautiful and a lot of themes - from Mafalda, Quino and Woody Allen to an immigrant or a soup maker.

Walk around the city and look for sculptures
May 2018 • Couples
Interesting scultures are scattered around the city. include some related to history of the city as well as some modern ones or cinematography-related in form of sculture of Woody Allen. It's fun to come across one of them once in a while.

Oviedo is an open-air gallery filled with over 100 sculptures scattered throughout the city.

On our visit to Oviedo, we were pleasantly surprised to see all the statues planted all over the city. We then did a little research and we were able to visit 22 of them. Amazing!!!!

So many sculptures. So little time. Oviedo, the capital city of Asturias, boasts over 100 sculptures that include statues of a milkmaid and donkey based on a local character from the early 1900s, a traveller surrounded by luggage, pregnant and nursing mothers, what looks to be the world’s largest buttocks sculpture and of course, Woody Allen!

Great Public Art
Sep 2018 • Friends
Oviedo is a walkable city of great public art. From a Botero to a humble milkmaid and her burro, there are many beautiful and interesting statues in Oviedo.

Enjoyed people watching as young couples and families posed for photos in front of the OVIEDO sign.

There's a charming statue of a popular cartoon character, Mafalda, sitting on a bench in Campo de San Francisco which is a great spot for a photo.

A surprise around every corner
Sep 2018 • Solo
This beautiful city is adorned with many, many statues . It adds a lovely dimension to an already very clean, walkable and friendly place. I like it more than Donostia as it seems less pretentious. However the style and fashion is just as nice. pack your favourite dress and fancy shoes if you want to fit in. The Spanish look you up and down, all the time. I was out of the running as I was walking the Camino so trail shoes and capris did not add a nothing of beauty.
