When you travel as much as we do, we can be forgiven for not wanting to visit another church. This one is an exception. It may be plain, so you're not here for the decoration. It's the history that matters here. That said, I found...More

We were not able to go in as there were too many tourists. It was worth going to though. Since it is a rather steep climb, if you are coming from town, I would suggest a taxi.

Worth the bus ride. You need to avoid midday ,no tours 1340 to 1540. Quite arduous if using the bus.

There is a guided tour every hour for 3 euros which also takes you to M. Michel (500 yards away), but there is not a lot inside. Probably worth a few photos from the path, and a little walk around the area.

Beautiful example of pre-Romanesque architecture. I recommend checking the times to visit the interior as well. Been there a couple times and will visit again some time.

We missed the opening hours, so could not see the church inside. Be sure to check ;) Continue along the road to get to the top of the mountain where a giant Jesus statue overlooks Oviedo. Nice view.

We went to Santa Maria del Naranco based on a recommendation from some fellow travellers. It is a bit of a hike up from Oviedo but well worth the views and the experience. Unfortunately the guided tour which you must take is only in Spanish....More
