Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

There are many trails in this park. I went to the shepherd's community of Brana de Mumian which has its own marked route. It is a community of old thatched huts accessible from Coto de Buenamadre. The valley views are spectacular. The park website is helpful in planning your walk. This is not on the Camino de Santiago, and the day we hiked we were alone in the mountains.

We did the Lago de Valle walk from the car park (free) in Lago de Valle to the reservoir at the end of the valley, which is about 6km and return is another 6km. Path is signposted as AS-15.1 with white/yellow markers. When you reach the end of the valley there is a path to Lagos de Saliencia, which takes you to other lakes, but requires a lot more climbing. No map is required, but if you want one they can be obtained in the tourist office in Pola de Someido. To start with the path is mainly an easy paved farm track. About halfway the track splits and the signage gives the option to walk in the shade (right hand path) or stay in the sun (left hand path). the path on the left continues to be a paved farm track that gradually goes up hill with some steep slopes, but open views of the valley. The right hand path is more difficult, as it soon is not a paved farm track anymore and in places goes up quite steeply in rough terrain. We walked the right hand path towards the end of the valley and the did the left hand path on the return journey, but would have been easier to do it they other way around. The views are lovely all the way through the valley. There are a number of old farmsteads which can be seen and if you are lucky you can see vultures and eagles as well.
Good walking shoes or boots required. No facilties enroute so on hot days take plenty of water.

Valle de Lago is an elongated village running up a high altitude valley in Somiedo. We walked from a village hotel. There are ample free parking spaces near the end of the road so you could drive up from the bustling tourist friendly town of Pola de Somiedo.
We spent about 8 hours walking 21km in beautiful scenery in September 2015, with only picnic and photo stops, although we walked a greater distance than necessary to see more of the lakes. We missed a visit to Lago de Valle on our return due to the extra time needed, it was already quite late in the day when we came to the other path.
Due to our inability to speak spanish we got no tourist information at our hotel, had we stayed in Pola it might have been a better option. We chose this location for the walking, assuming that we would obtain local tourist information and use waymarked paths. The mountain walk that we undertook was poorly signed where we missed the path in the clouds on three occasions. We were glad to have and recommend offline GPS backup if you try this without any local advice.
Beyond the parking spaces in Valle de Lago the way for motor vehicles is prohibited.
Soon after the tarmac ends.
Further on the path forks: to the right the Lake of the Valley (an easy walk along gravel track, open to pedestrians, bicycles and local vehicles only)
to the left the waymarked route to the Lagos de Saliencia (another shorter route exists from a valley to the north)
The gravel track heads steadily uphill with good views over the valley to the right and mountains beyond.
After some agricultural buildings the track heads to the left over rough ground, winding its way around a mountain on your right.
Next are high alpine meadows with cattle grazing in summer, here the track becomes split and confused.
Beyond a saddle a gentle decent leads closer to the lakes.
More walkers are now present, presumably coming from the valley to the north.
The lakes are quite a popular site, the smallest one had dried up, but the others are probably reservoirs, with man made engineering in evidence.
Brown bears and wolves probably inhabit the area.
Take food & water as well as compass + map or offline mapping with GPS. Dense cloud envelopes the alpine pastures in minutes.
The scenery is less spectacular than Picos de Europas, but also less touristy.

There is a viewpoint here, but a bit of a trek uphill to la perla. Well worth it when you get there. The people wear clogs here and very nice but cant speak english. Lots of wild flowers growing. Stone walls and houses tiled roofs. Huts for the shepards in winter are thatched!

Despite a very hot day we took the ruta de la Silencia, to see the lakes. Maps can be got free from the tourist info office in Pola de Somiedo. A round trip in a taxi to the start of the walk is about 35 euros which is pricey but worth it.
The routes are very well sign posted - just follow the markers and signs. On a hot day it took us 8 hours to walk to the lakes of Silencia and back via the Lagos de Valle. If you can handle the distance and the uphill needed to get over the mountain pass to Silencia's lakes, it is worth it to see them, it is quiet and peaceful and the most amazing views - though don't stop at the first lake as the largest is the best.
Lago de Valle is also beautiful but isn't as remote and natural (it has a huge dam). The path down through the woodland is worth it instead of the main track is you can then see the old branas (thatched houses).

We did the walk up to Lago de Valle - its about 6k there and back all on easy tracks - uphill there, down hill back. No need for a map - navigation is easy. You can dip your feet in the lake up at the top - swimming might be possible but we didn't try it out. The scenery is just beautiful - lovely thatched huts, rolling greenery and spectacular mountain backdrop. Well worth a day trip. There is a bar in the village we had a drink at when we finished - they do food but we didn't try it out .

Hello,
I'm a student from madrid whow loves travelling.
I'm planning to visit in the last week of February for 2days and 3 nights.
I couldn't exactly figure out how to get to the national park from oviedo and also, if there are any hostels/hotels near Someida where I can stay.
With my time frame I'm thinking of doing two routes on two days by trek. Is that doable?
Thanks and Regards,
Tejas
