Valle de Lago is an elongated village running up a high altitude valley in Somiedo. We walked from a village hotel. There are ample free parking spaces near the end of the road so you could drive up from the bustling tourist friendly town of Pola de Somiedo. There is a viewpoint here, but a bit of a trek uphill to la perla. Well worth it when you get there. The people wear clogs here and very nice but cant speak english. Lots of wild flowers growing. Stone walls and houses tiled roofs. Huts for the shepards in winter are thatched!

Despite a very hot day we took the ruta de la Silencia, to see the lakes. Maps can be got free from the tourist info office in Pola de Somiedo. A round trip in a taxi to the start of the walk is about 35 euros which is pricey but worth it. The routes are very well sign posted -... More

We did the walk up to Lago de Valle - its about 6k there and back all on easy tracks - uphill there, down hill back. No need for a map - navigation is easy. You can dip your feet in the lake up at the top - swimming might be possible but we didn't try it out. The scenery... More
