While the Pilar is definitely beautiful, I would argue that the Seo is the most breathtaking of the two famous cathedrals. The artwork is beautiful, and the atmosphere is quiet and peaceful. There are many display signs in Spanish and English throughout the building. The tapestry museum inside is also very interesting, although the signs are just in Spanish in... More

We had just visited the large magnificent looking El Pillar the day before and saw this sad building all covered in scaffolding, standing at the side. Knowing its history of crowning kings in the past, we felt motivated to attend Easter service there. And was it such a blessing and a gift!! Not only was the Cathedral beautiful, the music... More

Of the two big churches in Plaza del Pilar, I would suggest that Seo cathedral is the more satisfactory on the inside. As I mention in my review of the Basilica del Pilar, that heavy Spanish baroquery needs some austerity to set it off, and the light stone interior - in a kind of fusion of gothic and Mudéjar styles... There was a small cost for entrance but it was well worth it. There are many different chapels within the cathedral and the leaflet you receive on entry gives details of each in a number of languages including English. The sheer beauty is amazing and there are lots of excellent paintings. As part of the entry fee you also get... More

It wasn't what I expected and I thought the entrance fee did not merit an entrance as the view inside from the outside wasn't crash hot.

This cathedral is at one end of the Plaza, the same Plaza where the Basilica. This cathedral is older than the Basilica. There are older parts and newer parts. This cathedral is very ornate inside with beautiful art and carvings and statues and domes. This is why it is a must see attraction. There are many different chapels, all with... More

No photography is allowed either here or La Pillar which is a great shame because it is spectacularly beautiful. There were also works by Goya and the most amazing sculpture on display. Very disappointing service from the closest Tourist Office who did not have the linguistic skills to advise me on the best method of travelling around the city. They... More

Roman big stones in the low part of parroquieta de la Seo, with romanic archs in the middle and mudejar brickets stravaganza, from arabian and mozarabes sculptures, give sense to the renaissance upper part of this La Seo Cathedral northern wall. Big gothic windows give ligth to the interior basilica and the whole monument shows the signatures of their 1500... More

The architecture is amazing. The small bricks used are architecture is similar to the islamic/Persian mosque design. But it has its own character. dont miss it.
