Niebla was a huge surprise. Firstly a great castle to walk around with explanation boards in English. The star has to be the dungeons with their array of instruments of torture some still being used today. The other places of interest are the church and the synagogue. The church was an old mosque and the synagogue an old church. Would... More

We just came across this castle while in the area & decided to take a guided tour & it was a nice place to see. It's very open & spacious inside the walls & you can climb the ancient steps to view the surrounding area & also take a look down in the dungeon (if you're so inclined!)

I wasn't expecting much when I set out for a short day trip to Niebla. I was pleasantly surprised by the castle! I was expecting a 20 minute walk through but we easily spent more than an hour exploring all the nooks and crannies of the castle. There were informative plaques posted throughout and the dungeons were quite extensive with... More

Wonderful surprise to explore this smaller site without crowds. The dungeon was sobering. The vistas from the top were beautiful.

Arriving at the wrong time, everything was closing and the cost of the visit inside the castle was not worth a 20 minute visit, but it was a lovely walk around the walls, the church was beautiful and we found a gem of a restaurant, Casa Ramos, up to the right as you exit the main gate.

An excellent example of a Moorish castle with all the original outer walls intact. A pleasant walkway running parallel with the walls brings you to the first entrance. Here you will find the usual storks posing for tourists from their nests. Inside the walls are many whitewashed buildings, a pleasant square and a small part of the castle resembling architecture... Niebla was once the capital city of Huelva. The Castillo de Niebla is well worth a visit but be prepared for some pretty atrocious torture implements. I'm glad I wasn't around in those horrific times. Just a few Euro entry fee and not for the faint hearted or people with walking difficulties or not a good head for heights. I... More

Beautiful well preserved walled town out of the way from the main highway, it is worth detouring and spend a couple of hours here.
