What a beautiful building this is. Full of interesting artifacts and steeped in history. Malaga is a wonderful city and next time I visit I will stay here rather than the costal resorts. The bars and tapas were absolutely lovely. You must visit.

Mind bogglingly large, dominating a-lot of realestate, nice just to walk its perimeter taking it all in, surrounded by some lovely gardens, well worth a visit, we didn't enter as there is a fee, however, still nice just to see the facades.

While I'm not a very religious person, I do appreciate the magnificent architecture and immense importance this Cathedral played in the history of Malaga. Beautiful windows, wonderful art, stunning gold pieces of religious iconography. Took me about an hour to complete the self tour.

A Spanish cathedrale in all its beauty and mixity.
A combination of Gothic, Classic and Baroque
architecture as most of the major Hispanic cathédrales. My AirBnB was in front of the cathedrale so I saw It and heard the bells all day and night!

This is the obvious centre piece, but within 500 square yards, the photographic opportunities are endless.

Money, money, money,, I have stayed in Spain for more than a month and visited more than 50+ cathedral or catholic churches. This is one of few places that does not offer any free entry even on Sunday. Always asking an entrance fee to get in. Jesus might be crying in somewhere, ha ha.. It is not worthy to visit with entrance fee. Spend that money for something else unless you are dyeing-to-see Maria catholic.

There are the usual high quality and ornate interiors of a catholic cathedral. But make sure you book a roof tour to so the surroundings of the city you will not regret it.
A walk around the building’s perimeter at night is also stunning as it is so large.

Nothing changed here. Glitter and nonsense. Sign saying g-d is here as if he/she /they wasn’t everywhere. Especially sad to see nature neglected in gardens.

I enjoyed a walk through the cathedral but note it simply can’t compare with others in Toledo, Cordoba, and Sevilla.

Is it worth paying extra to do the tour of the roof? Can you bring a small back pack?

For me, the roof tour was a highlight of the visit as it gave a completely different view of both the inside of the cathedral, from a couple of viewpoints, as well as the outside roof and tower details that you cannot see otherwise.
As the steps up to the roof could be considered to be quite narrow you cannot take large backpacks but a smaller backpack ( size of an average handbag ) is allowed. In fact I would advise that a small backpack is preferable to a shoulder or handbag as it frees up your hands during the climb up.. and down the stairs.

Depending on the weather but I would say 1-2 hours before and merry Christmas if it’s not too early
