We loved the idea of walking out to this castle. But sadly the walkway has been closed by the local police, and a local official said it would be shut for many months. Big shame. Cadiz is a lovely place but at times it seems...More

Great and historic castle, best approached from the Paseo Maritimo looking out to sea at dusk. Wonderful experience walking along the promontory from the beach to the impressive castle and being able to look back at the city of Cadíz from there. We went on...More

The Castle of San Sebastián was built in the 18th century to defend the northern flank of the city from attack. It's built at the end of La Caleta beach and reachable via a roughly 1,.5 km long causeway. It's a lovely walk and the...More

Attracted by the sight of this castle sitting off the coast we passed through the two land gates which formed the gatehuse (café with free Wi-Fi) and walked out to the castle itself. There is a little Lady chapel or guard room on the left...More

This is one of the most unique places in Cadiz. But of course it's not really IN it. There is a pathway to the tiny almost-island and it's a lovely walk, but if you really like castles a bit of a disappointment because it is...More

I have been here before when it was opened but in need of repair and found out on this trip it was closed, few reviews complaining of the walk, clearly some folk can’t take the scenery, fresh air and a lazy paseo in a beautiful...More

On the west side of Cadiz you will find a long pathway/narrow service lane that extends like an arm out into the sea. At the end of this extension is the fort, once used by the Spanish to defend the port of Cadiz from approaching...More

The castle is closed indefinitely for repairs. Given that it's quite a long walk out the causeway to get to it, it might have been nice if they'd bothered to put up some kind of signage warning people that the castle is closed. Common courtesy.

This was great walk out - and much further than we imagined it would be according to my Fitbit! The fortress was in need of restoration but this seems to be in hand. The buildings were not open to the public but the views back...More

Unfortunately, although it is a nice walk along the jetty to get to the Castle, it is currently closed for renovation with no details on when it will be re-opening.
