Amazing building and interesting exhibits

This is a huge building with a lot to see in it. The audio guide in English is vital to an understanding of what is on display. It is free with the Weimar card.

This museum is easy to find and the history is very interesting. Unfortunately, almost nothing other than the one large description board found in most rooms is translated into English. So much of what you see, you have no idea of the history. There are audio guides, but it usually highlights one item in every other room. Additionally, they will... More

The collections are from grand duke, Karl August's family. Most of them are paintings. Liszt also involved in the design of its ballroom.

Very big castle witha very long history of the Weimar Ducal House but the most interesting to see are very impressive classical interiors and pianos as they have a great selection from various periods.

what a place full of interesting things to see. The audio guides were excellent and the exhibits so numerous that you wouldn't want to do the place in a rush. The impressionist painters on the top level were astounding and the history through the guide and the paintings and furnishings was a wonderful experience. A must see

Been there as a part of my uni course, the place was located in a good location near everything. Fascinated by the paintings from Goethe and Schiller and their lives. Recommended.

We found this museum very interesting and we got a good idea how Weimar became a cultural centre. The rooms devoted to the great Goethe, Schiller ,Herder and Wieland are very interesting. The collection of paintings is worth seeing. We enjoyed being introduced to the paintings of the Weimar school which reminded us of the Glasgow artists painting at the... More
