We visited the Domplatz on a Thursday in August, so unfortunately there were no markets on. However, the square was quite busy and full of life. The view of the cathedral is not to be missed, it is breathtaking. There are lots of cafes, restaurants...More

You'll fin here lots of restaurants, markets of various kind, including the one for Christmas, but also festivals. If nothing is going on, you can just enjoy the view of the Dom and take pictures.

Quite a large square with the best view of the massive cathedral and church looming high above. There was a sort of farmers market the day we were there.

When we visited - there wasn't anything actually happening in the Platz (Though I assume there are things from time to time). It has a lovely backdrop of the Cathedral, but when we were there - not a lot else was going on.

I was exploring Erfurt and came across the Cathedral and the town square in front of it. It is a large open area where they have Christmas Markets for the holiday. Off to the side are some small cafes for food and drink.

When I came up to the platz from a side street my breath was taken away from the beauty. Of course we were there for the Christmas market and that help. But the massiveness of the area just stunning

A lovely setting for the Christmas market with the cathedral towering over you. Great selection of stalls, in fact my favourite market and i have visited a few. Some nice authentic shops. Don't forget a ride of the Ferris Wheel!
