The building is really impressive from the outside - but it is hard to comprehend what is on the inside. It is probably something about the Harse Stadt network, i.e., the old network of trading places around the Germany and even beyond in Europe. So...More

This is the first sight of the old town as you come in from the railway station - and what a magnificent site. It's leaning slightly, being on marshy ground, but still a wonderful medieval introduction to Lubeck

Once the only entrance to Lübeck, this gate was built between 1466 and 1478. The design, by Hinrich Helmstede, was based on a Flemish plan. After the Holstentor they build another five gates to enter/exit the city from this side of the town. They all...More

A great place to see some of Germany's history. The building is very old and you can see if leaning to one side which adds to it's charming character.

We visited Lubeck and we loved all of it. But this was definitely one of the most beautiful buildings of this city. It was built in a swampy area so you can see how it is tilted. Definitely worth yo take a picture!

As you arrive with train a very short walk you are met with the awesome sight of the gate telling you that you are in a true historic medieval city. A truly impressive sight and a Kodak moment.

The trademark of Luebeck. And of the Marzipan company. Very impressive building. Good photo opportunity. But check out the right time to have the sun in the back when taking the pictures.

First thing you see as you walk into Lübeck. Because of the sun angle, the city side is best pictured in the morning and the entry side is best pictured in the afternoon.
