This is a mecca for all car fans and particularly those fans of German cars. The history of various marques is followed clearly and the individual people are featured to give the human side to the visit. Towards the end of the museum there is a reference to the town of Zwickau and it's more recent car manufacture. Well worth the visit in my humble opinion. There are all facilities you would want, a restaurant and a shop with fine books and models to remind you of your visit. Excellently laid out and no restrictions on photography!

We came here 5-6 years ago. Since then they have added a whole new section so, that was great.

Very informative and 'most' descriptions are also in English. They also offer tour-guides and they do have guides that speak English.

I went there with my five year old son and we were occupied and well entertainment for two hours. But you spent more time in there for sure. The admission price was 9 Euros for adults and my son was free.
The collection of cars is well selected and in very good shape. The staff is friendly and kind. If you want to leave your bags in a locker just go downstairs after the register.
The only downside was that not all displays were working. Especially a giant mumbeling railway which drew my son's attention was out of order.
Still this museum is worth a visit. We skipped the cafeteria but everything looked clean and in good shape.

Excellent museum with a lot of history of the auto-union brands and the automotive path until the present days.
The museum has 2 big rooms with a restaurant between them. It takes a long good time to visit.

The museum gets its name from August Horch, the founder of the Horch brand of automobiles in Germany - Horch was also the founder of Audi which runs the museum today. Located in Zwickau, the museum display an excellent collection of Horch and Auto Union cars from the early 20th century as a permanent collection. At the time of our visit there was a special exhibition of Trabant cars (made in Zwickau in DDR times) - was very interesting, should be made a permanent one (especially because of it reflects to Zwickau's past). The display of SIlver Arrow racing cars from the 30s is brilliant. The museum itself is not so big, yet it is easy to spend 2-3 hours there marvelling at the wonders of engineering. Also included is a restaurant (quite good) and a souvenir shop (with generic stuff). Well worth visiting.

The Museum is situated in some of those buildings where in the DDR-era the Trabis were produced. We were lucky to see the special exhibition "60 years of Trabant". Some extraordinary rarities of the past decades also can be seen, among others the "big brother" of the best known Trabi, the middle category Trabant Sachsenring or the luxus variant of the Trabant, produced only in two copies for military parades. It is interesting to see, how East German engineers tried to further develop their models at those times, when these design-autos were decades behind the contemporary Western technology. Very impressive is the selection of old models from the first half of the 20th century, as well the historical-political background in the divided Germany. A half day visit was enough to get a general impression and a broad overview.
