Excellent Museum for lovers of fine porcelain. Good tour of the workshop, intersting museum with loads of beautiful pieces from all areas. Finally an outlet shop and a normal shop. Afterwards we enjoyed a coffee and cake in the resto which is nicely decorated with Meissen porcelain and other decorative pieces. A must do when around in this area.

We were a bit surprised by the small size of the museum, it was only one floor with most things numbered but no more information given. You could read a bit on the walls in German or English about the history behind the manufacturing of porcelain. The workshop was much better with enough information given about how Meissen became famous... More

This is a must see while in Meissen. Tickets are reasonable - 7euro for adults and 1.5 for school children. The building is lovely and modern, and a highlight is the workshop demonstration which is worth waiting for as you can see how the porcelain is made. There are also audio guides for those who do not understand German. While we... More

Meissen porcelain is the first European hard-paste porcelain. Make your trip from Prague to this exploring little manufacture! Its name is known especially by famous onion pattern on plates. You will see workers right during their job.

You need a GPS to find this factory/museum/shop in the working class town of Meissen. I wanted to visit here as my grandmother had Meissen China dishes. She, of German descent, always spoke reverently of the workmanship of Meissen. To say factory....it is a workshop of artists. It costs 9 euro to take the tour, but it is free to... More

Meissen is of course world famous, and so a visit to the factory during our stay in Dresden was a must. For us, the easiest way to travel there was by train from the Hauptbahnhof. A Familientageskarte (family day travel ticket) cost us EUR19, and it was a short interesting 30 minute journey through Dresden to Meissen - interesting to... More

This was a side excursion that we took while visiting Germany, and it was worth the trip seeing how the porcelain was made and to view what the manufacture had produced in the past!

Although we didn't look around the actual factory, we enjoyed looking at all the Meissen porcelains and appreciated all the delicate work that goes into them.

In Manufacture you can see all the procedure to handmake fine porcelains. Besides there is a museum that has a lot of kind of porcelains.e.g dinner service, objects inspired from East, the famous "Porzellan zoo", etc. Also there is a shop with a rich collection of Meissen porcelains.

I have been familiar with the fragile figurines from Meissen for years and looked forward to my visit. We saw the five steps of the totally hand made porcelain products and now have a better understanding of the value of their products. There is a 'seconds' area with discounts and I found a white vase that I could afford and... More
