Just like other recent reviews this tour of the Meissen building included a fascinating demonstration of making china by hand. Some amazing pieces on show. No wonder Meissen is so expensive. Some may think the china only appeals to ladies. Yes my wife loved it...More

Interesting overview of the manufacturing process, including the labour of love of the intricate painting. Apparently years of training are required. Finished products in the extensive gift shop don't come cheap, but that's no surprise after the handiwork.

The tour of the porcelain manufacturing facility that put Meissen on the map is well worth while. The demonstration gives a good sense of all that goes into the lovely creations.

Try S-Bahn Direction: Meißen Triebischtal. It'll take about 35 min. Trains run every half hour. Half day is not much but it's better than nothing. Hope this helps. Elena
