The Leipzig main station is really spacious. The architecture is truly interesting and there are a lot of shops and dining options. I personally also really like the Starbucks there, mostly due to the room it's in, wich is truly stunning!

We parked our car in a multi story car park next door and started our whirlwind tour of Leipzig by walking into this Category 1 train station. It is very big - in fact it is Europe's largest railway station as measured by floor area.
We didn't explore everything here - my first stop was the restrooms which were the most expensive I've been to so far on our family's trip around southern/eastern Germany. For 1,00€ I was expecting ultra VIP service which wasn't available.
The halls were massive and, down one platform we discovered a beautifully restored steam train from the Deutsche Reichsbahn era. This one was an example of the DRB Class 52 - the most produced type of the so-called Kriegslokomotiven or Kriegsloks (war locomotives). Impressive.
We skipped visiting the shops here, preferring to head into town and catch a sightseeing bus.

Lots of shops on several levels, modern storage locker (not many spaces though), also fast to catch a train (you dont have to pass the shops as they are on other levels)

The central station is unique!
What a large hall! All is in great shape. This is a head station. The hall is often used for film work. Like the central station in NYC

One of the worlds biggest stations - more a huge shopping Mall than a train station. We spend a whole day shopping here.

Leipzig Hauptbahnhof is Europe’s largest train station, and yet its well designed layout makes it visitor friendly.
The station with excellent modern facilities and logical layout is pleasure for visitors to navigate through. The platforms are lined up in a logical way like Hauptbahnhofs of Munich, Frankfurt, Nuremberg and Koln. Multiple levels of concourses with shops, eateries, lockers, pharmacy and supermarkets allow travelers to find whatever they want. The station has 2 side entrances/exits, and 3 front entrances/exits. For Tourist Information Office, walk out of the station through a front exit, walk across the wide plaza & tram tracks and walk to the information building ahead. To go to the Old Town by public transportation, S-bahn is readily available at near Platform # 1~2 of the train station. Old Town (Marktplatz stop) is only 1 stop away from the station, and S-bahn ride is free for any active railpass holders. During our stay in Leipzig, we frequently used this train station for day excursions to the cities like Dresden, Weimar, Wittenberg and Halle (Saale). Leipzig station is our favorite train station.

Another one of the major German train stations. A full shopping level as well. Not much more to add.

Από ποια πλατφόρμα παίρνεις το τρένο για Βαϊμάρη;

I do not know. There are many platforms and a big board with all the coming departures. The Deutsche Bahn website allows you to plan a journey and it will tell you the times, platforms, and ultimate destination of the train.

The station has plenty of luggage storage lockers for short and long term use, prices range from €2.50 to €5.00. Look for them on main concourse by platforms 1 and 2 or at either side of the travel centre at the main entrances. I have not used the lockers myself. this is from a local website.

Are platforms 11 & 23 on the same level?

I think so. My recollection is that S-bahn platforms are at a lower level and there is a long line of platforms at a higher level..

Even goed rondkijken in de aankomsthal. Mooie reis verder.
What time do shops open?

It was our experience that most shops are open by 9 am and are open past 8 pm each day. Not sure times on Sunday. Hope this helps.

Having been to the Hauptbahnhof in Leipzig I did not find the Holocaust Memorial as you mentioned.
Where in the complex was it exactly?Do you have a Picture please?
