The "wondrous" aspect of this bridge that spans the Elbe is its construction. It is one of the first steel suspension bridges in the world requiring no supporting piers in the water.

Dresdeners love it because it has made commuting life easier but for tourists, it is really Just a Bridge.

You can go to this place by every City Tour Bus. There is a hop on station on Körnerplatz. Best way to jump out and use the Standaeilbahn or Schwebeban, all of them are traditional and historic interesting. Near by is the Loschwitz Church and...More

We went over the bridge many times to go to the tram and to go to Saxon Switzerland, to be fair we did not read about the history.

Don't get to excited. Its just a bridge. It is beautiful but its not Prague like views on one side or the other.

We saw this from the steam boat, with commentary from the guide. I'm not sure it's worth a special trip out to see it.

In an area where most bridges are made of stone or concrete the steel bridge is different. It has a nice walkway and easy to cross the river. Not really much to see except that the bridge is old and was not bombed during WW2.

They strongly suggested me to visit the bridge and the area around. I went there a morning and I walked around. It was ok, but I do not consider it as a really attractive place of Dresden.

Our "Elbe Princess" had no problems passing under this bridge. The colour was a change from the other Dresden bridges.
