The museum includes nice art collection from modern and classic artists and painters. I had a chance to see Bauhaus textile and graphic arts exhibition. If you miss being surrounded by art in Chemnitz, this is a nice place to be in. P.s. Also, something nice not connected with art, you can have a coffee in a nice atmosphere in a cafe on the ground floor.

A lovely day out at the art collection Chemnitz - a must for every visitor in Chemnitz. The staff are friendly, the art collection may be smaller than in major cities, but still great, and certainly worth a visit. Do take the time to have a coffee and cake - the cakes are scrumptious!

Connection to art in Chemnitz

The museum includes nice art collection from modern and classic artists and painters. I had a chance to see Bauhaus textile and graphic arts exhibition.
If you miss being surrounded by art in Chemnitz, this is a nice place to be in.

P.s. Also, something nice not connected with art, you can have a coffee in a nice atmosphere in a cafe on the ground floor.

The Kunstsammlungen Chemnitz with its three museums is a great place to be. Open und friendl people, interesting art and great exhibitions. And first of all, a very warmly art mediation especially for families and kids. Very positive!

It's a nice building and I enjoyed looking at different types of art. My favorite was a sculpture of a penguine made of bronze.
The staff was very friendly.

Yes, the facade of the Kunstsammlung is beautiful, but it also seems a little quiet and lacking the human traffic. Visit it nonetheless for some indoors time with well-curated rooms filled with the institution's collections and temporary exhibitions.

Looked nice but not fun for teens ...

We took a brief walk through to see if it'd hold the interest of our young teens --it didn't. Normally we push them to learn and enjoy anyway - but we'd already done that today.
The museum seemed to have several lovely pieces but the rooms appeared a bit dark and drab for my taste. We did go to the museum store and enjoyed browsing there -- my hubby picked up a poster of a Friedrich ship
For 3 euros.
