The church is located in the heart of Mainz, close to the cathedral - about two minutes walk. It is hidden among other buildings and to the street goes just with the facade, which is notable for the sculpture group above the portal with the figure of the Virgin Mary in the center and on the sides - St. Augustine... Located in the Aldstadt, St Augustine's Church is open pretty much all the time. There are church services, but during the weekdays, it is open to the public. From the outside, it looks like a lovely old building with statues that suggests something special inside. Through a small entrance, you are greeted with baroque imagery and ornate decorations. Look and... More

Gorgeous Baroc church. Check the ceiling, really pretty, just sit and stare for a while, you'll keep seeing more the longer you watch.

This is a beautiful 18th century church, located in central Mainz. The most striking aspect of this church is undoubtedly its stunning ceiling with its beautiful colors. However, the altar and the organ are impressive as well. The acoustics in the church is absolutely wonderful.

Don't miss the entrance while walking around downtown It's in the pedestrian area and you hardly notice the entrance Surprisingly you enter a wonderful nice silent place what you've never been expected

This church was not damaged by the war. It's a nice glimpse at the original beauty of such an old church! It's a great place to just sit and stare at the ceiling.

Among Germany's grand churches and cathedrals, this one stands out for its exquisite detail and modest size. Tucked into a quiet street, you might pass it by unnoticed, but once you enter its doors the space is both intimate and impressive. It's diminutive size makes the details more accessible, and the windows admit enough light for the ceiling mural and... More

The original Augustiner Church was built by Augustinian monks in the 13th Century. The present church dates from the latter half of the 18th Century and is a prime example of late German Baroque. It is very popular with tourists and justifyably so, it is very beautiful.....delicate even. The large windows provide plenty of daylight to view the frescoed interior.... More

Mainz has so many beautiful churches to offer and this is one of them. It's fairly small, especially compared to the Cathedral, but with a beautiful, light decor.

This is a pretty little baroque church within walking distance of the cathedral. Excellent example of Baroque architecture.
