Interesting museum, however, too much affected by fashion for some modernism in the organization and presentation of exhibitions. It is located in the former convent of St. Clara, which, nevertheless, like much in Rhineland-Palatinate, was almost wholly destroyed by bombing during the second world war, but then restored and even newly rebuilt. The most wonderful museum having to do not with arts I've ever seen. It's informative, interactive, and tasteful. You can interact with things there, touch ancient stones and fur of different animals, play an archeologist, see the oldest bug in the planet's history. It must be esp. interesting for kids (in fact, they have special semi-educational and semi-entertainig rooms for... More

This is in the city center.Quite a good museum if you have time to spend.Tour guide will take you if you have been to similar ones before and no time you can skip it.

I loved this museum :) I would especially recommend it to families with children - there are a lot of specials for kids, now I saw a temporary exhibition "Monsters" about creatures like Loch Ness Monster or the Yeti. Nice collection of flora and fauna for the amateurs - biologists would need some more than that - and after science... More

We love the Natural History museum. We've been there with homeschool groups (they'll do programs in English for kid groups), individually during the day, and for the Mainzer Museumnacht. It's my daughter's favorite museum in Mainz.
