We went back to the Cathedral a second time, partly in order to gain access to the museum associated with it. It was a disappointment. The brief history provided (at least for those who don't read German) indicated that the Cathedral had lost most of its treasure over the years, and sure enough, there was not much to see. In... Photography in the main museum is not allowed indoors. Within the Mainz Cathedral and in the outdoor cloisters, it is, regardless of what any cranky locals say.
