You can combine a visit of the Villa Hügel and the Baldeney lake. The Villa itself is surrounded by a nice park and exhibits photography and pieces of the family Krupp and the history of Essen around war times. From the park you have a...More

I'd go again and again just for the amazing grounds. One could get lost, and pleasantly so, in the sheer wealth of small woods and scattered bushes. The villa itself is well preserved, though catering only to the German speaking visitors. Still, the woodwork and...More

The power and influence of the Krupps Empire is well represented here. Not only the engineering and production side, but also the dark side of the family's involvement in Second World War slave labour. A beautiful setting which saw visits from world leaders and royalty.
