A very impressive monument, maybe most impressive in Hannover. If you visit Hannover you must go to view Waterlooplatz, is just at 2 tram station from central station. The only negative aspect is because local authorities made a refugee camp near the monument.

Hannover is a must when visiting Germany. It has quite a lot of old buildings that escaped the ravages of World War II and is a delightful place to visit. Waterlooplatz and the surrounding buildings give some sort of indication of what the splendour of the place might have been when the Elector was also King of Britain and Ireland.

A large monument with the famous eagle and lots of places to eat and drink. A nice break from the hustle and bustle of the city

Great beer garden in Waterlooplatz where the atmosphere was as good as the beer. Plenty of different variations of food also

This is a terrific reminder of the bravery of the Germans who fought at Waterloo for the Kings German Legion as part of the British Army. Many of them were Hanoverians. Only 42 survived the defence of Hougement farm out of 400. This crucially allowed the Prussians time to arrive and swing the battle. Britain and Hanover had the same... More

and Hannover does this at Waterlooplatz. You will see it easily; it is a large column surrounded by cannon. Read the pillars for the names of heroic soldiers who fought in the battle. Imagine yourself going way back in time and look around at the openness. The area you see is a former drill pad for German soldiers from the... More

Unless you have a specific activity or event planned, you can easily see and enjoy this site from a tour bus. It's a large, grassy area that is pretty, with a large column/statue, but beyond that, it's not anything that you would schedule considerable time visiting.
