You can reach the Abbey by car, by hiking up the hill from Rudesheim (and I mean UP), or by hiking across after taking the cable car up from Rudesheim. The Abbey is in a beautiful setting amongst vineyard. The chapel is lovely with very unique artwork. Highly recommended stop on your Rheinland tour.

We loved walking up through the vineyards to the abbey. Shopping a bit, tasting some wine in the shop, hearing the nun's beautiful singing and enjoying the view.

Enjoyed a walk on a sunny autumn day to this beautiful place. Arrived just around mid day and the cafe or the vine cellar were closed ( open on Sunday's in the afternoon only). Still a worth to visit. The church is beautiful with nice garden and the views of the surrounding vineyards are really magnificent.

We had heard about Hildegard of Bingen so we were interested to see the Abbey. It is set on a hillside overlooking the Rhine and the towns of Rudesheim and Bingen. There is a good introduction to the abbey on display boards in various languages including English. The gift shop is large, bright and well stocked. A strange sight to... More

This a wonderful experience for all, the sisters have an active facility with guided tours to tell you about Saint Hildegard and all the research she did into natural medicines. This is all in addition to the extraordinary life she led within the church. A great experience.

Hildegard created two monasteries, and this one is still active. The building itself is far younger, about 100 years, but the clerical life of the benedictine nuns is still active.

I guess it really doesn't matter so much what this place is like, as we were hellbent (oops, wrong choice of words) on going here as part of our St. Hildegard visit. It was more than a bonus that the abbey itself is meticulously kept, so that the whole experience is one of tranquility and wonder. From the views high... More

Although it was a bit of a hike the view from the Abbey was worth it. The views were stunning. The church is beautiful. The visitor center provided a very good explanation of the history of the Abbey as well present day information.

I've heard of that abbey a couple of times, and while this was laying on our way back home, we decided to drop by over there. It was such a hot summer day and it was great to have a house made fruity cake and a delicious wine, which they made too. The people were friendly. There is a great... More
