Old Botanical Garden is a Quiet Open Space in the City
Aug 2019 • Couples
My wife and I walked through the old botanical garden in the city. It is now a little overgrown, but there are still signs of the old plantings. It is a nice place to sit on the benches and reflect, or catch some sun.

Much smaller than the new botanical garden on the Lahnberge but still nice for a picnic on a sunny day.

Nice place
Jun 2016 • Solo
There are in Marburg two botanical gardens – the old and the new one. Old garden is located in not a large area in the historical centre. Now it is used by residents mainly as a public park. In fact its original functions were transferred to the newly arranged botanical garden, located in the “mountainous” part. This is not a park, but a real botanical garden, the entrance fee to which costs 4 euros. Here you can see landscape design and greenhouses with exotic plants from around the world. Cacti, orchids, lotuses. There is even a plant that catches flies. Although a decent part of the territory was taken by the well-known vegetable plants – squash, pumpkins, cabbage, peas, apples, pears. There is a pond, constructed streams, grooves lake.
Nice place.

a nice picnic spot
Nov 2015 • Couples
I work very near to the Botanischer Garten at Karl Von Frisch Str. You can take bus #7 direction Uni Lahnberge. Get down at the Botanischer garten bus stop and its just a few min. walk from there. A nice place to spend half a day. If you love plants then the Botanischer garten at Frankfurt is a better option.

Nice for a walk but nothing special
Sep 2015 • Couples
Nice for a walk in a green park but nothing special to see. Some parts were being repaired and closed off by a fence so city is trying to keep it up. But in a short visit. spend more time in the old city.

Garden on a Hill
May 2015 • Couples
Taking the #7 bus to the Lahnberge offered a trip through residential Marburg, the big clinic and university, to the new Botanical Garden, established a few years ago on the hills overlooking the city. We arrived during the rhododendron flowering, and saw many hues on the huge bushes. Roses were coming out, and other early summer flowers also were blooming. Although the place was not perfect, there were many paths to wander and interesting plants to see.

when i think of a botanischer garten i think of a place with a lot of different plants, flowers, signs naer to them. here there is just a run-down park with a pond and alot of grass that needs mowing.
