I was here during the Luminale and the light show projected onto the facade of the Alte Oper was the best I have ever seen. It was very moving and despite the bitter cold I stayed to watch the whole thing. Well done.

Visited the theatre on Easter weekend for the rocky horror show. The building is extraordinary, every time you look you see more details. It's very clean and good seating plan.

The architecture is stunning and I love that the Germans have renovated but kept as much of the facade as possible.

Square in front is very nice. Skyline of city behind it and lovely old lights. Imposing building and a "real" opera house. Fantastic to see.

The opera house in Frankfurt is a very historical place to visit if you are interested in that sort of thing. I really enjoyed my visit

It's a sight worth seeing and a nice place to start a tour around downtown Frankfurt. Attractions like Paulskirche within walking distance.

A place where on a weekend you can see people hosting road shows... Music and some of the cultural activities. It is well connected by Tram and close to the Main river. Just opposite the EuroStar building.

The building itself is nice and the prices for events are fairly reasonable. I saw an orchestra but I was very disappointed. It was not spectacular and tried too hard to be arty and unusual. It ended up being akin to the twilight zone. I...More

Being a concert-freak, I've been to hundreds of venues in my life. Only a handful of those can be compared with the majestic Alte Oper of Frankfurt. A wonderful place with great acoustics, ideal for demanding audiophile visitors. Highlight; the Dead Can Dance concert of...More

Hi John I see others have answered. I thought I saw some publicity about it while I was in Frankfurt. Sounds like it will be a wonderful few days. Have fun and safe travels.

Loraine, which concert are you going to? At least there is a "Abendkasse" which opens 1 hour before each concert where you can purchase last minute tickets. Should be possible to deposit already paid tickets there as well... More

Hi! If the concert is inside the opera, then I would definitely recommend wearing something chic. Not necessarily a tie, but a shirt and blazer will do! Hope I could help. Have fun at the concert!
