Work started in 1912 as a Palace for the Crown Prince Wilhelm in the style of a Tudor Mansion, you have to remember the very close family and social ties between the German and British Monarchies, indeed it was not until 1917 that the Sax Coburg Gothas... became the Windsors, it was the seat of the HOHENZOLLERNS until seizure by... I recently visited Schloss Cecilienhof with my family. Entry is 6 EUR for 5 rooms with an audio guide. The tour does not include the private royal rooms on the first floor. They are charged extra and you have to get into the waiting line again. The castle is currently under major construction and the hotel on the other side... More

A group of students including myself visited the house as part of a trip to Berlin. The tour was very informative, and helpful for our history GCSEs, and the house itself was very beautiful and well-kept. The tour guide spoke good English and was very nice. Overall a very good visit, although it could have been a bit more interactive... More

We took a taxi from Sanssouci to this rather remote palace in a nice residential area of Potsdam. We were with a private guide who was licensed to provide explanations and a tour of the inside of the home. Built by Crown Prince Wilhem and his wife, with construction being ill timed in 1914. A low, tudor style manor house,... More

Enjoyed visiting this unusual place. Not many tourists. There is a small gift shop inside. Large gardens but in March not much to see. Interesting hearing about the history and structure of this unique building.

I went there from Sanssouci Palace. The location is quite far. After taking a bus, there's no proper signage so we got lost. We had to walk very far and after a very long walk, apparently the place is close for renovation. We just went there for toilet break. What a total waste of time, energy and money!!! Plus, the... Cecilienhof Palace is where the 1945 Potsdam Conference was held. This was where Stalin, Churchill (and then Atlee) and Truman met in July and August 1945 to carve up post war Europe. I’ve seen many photographs of the Conference so it was enlightening to see the places where the photographs were taken. The rooms are much as they were 70+... More

Built in the style of an English country manor, this is where the "victorious powers" ( USA, UK and Russia ) met to sign the Potsdam Treaty which divided Germany into three sectors. This eventually led to the formation of East and West Germany as the Soviets sealed their sector off. Bu

Unfortunately they are in the process of replacing the roof which means there is a lot of scaffolding and plastic sheeting. However the house is still open. You grey an audio guide so you can complete the tour at your own speed and you can get a pass to allow you to take your own photos. Not really a place... More

Our tour took us around the exterior of the building so we never entered it. The explanation by the Viking Cruise guide was outstanding. This was truly a place which shaped post war Europe. A lot of it is being renovated / restored.
