A great palace it was to start with. The Grotto hall below, the ballroom above and it's magnificent flooring. But the even sweeter reality is the fact that it's restored and superbly so. German engineering excellence at full display within a world heritage monument. A...More

More than Sanssouci this palace gives an idea how the Kaiser and family lived til the beginning of modern times: first bathrooms, first electricity, central heating. See how they wanted to impress the world with abundance of space, rooms, statues, etc. At the same time...More

Neues Palais was the official palace, whereas Sans Souci was a private gem. Built for grandeur to impress visitors, the palace lines up rooms and apartments, an impressive marble ballroom which almost collapsed from its weight, and the "grotto" filled up to the brim with...More

Nothing subtle ,understated and not a penny saved . One cannot but be impressed at the sheer scale and the speed at which it was constructed.

Got to pretty much have this palace to myself, which was fantastic and it felt like a less of a conveyor belt than Sanssoucci. Would recommend doing this in the morning after picking up your tickets.
