About
For 17 days every October, about 4 million revellers arrive at Bremer Freimarkt to ride Ferris wheels, roller coasters and ghost trains and feed on fried dough, spicy liquorice and smoked eel. One of the oldest fairs in Germany, the event first took place in 1035. Of course, it's changed a great deal over that time, with blacksmiths, jugglers and storytellers giving way to fireworks, candy floss and a parade of creatively and colourfully decorated floats. The modern version of Freimarkt runs with delirious energy, as merrymakers sway to rock bands in tents and zip among more than 300 attractions on the neon-lit fairscape.

Great fun with locals
Oct 2019
The Bremen Oktoberfest is definitely not mass tourist attraction like in Munich but genuine fun with locals. To be honest I did not expected such party but the afternoon and evening more than lived up to my inspection. We came late in the afternoon when our tent was hardly occupied and had our first Maß of beer (at the costs of 10,30€) while a band on the stage played the music. The tent started to fill up quickly with people of different age, but mostly just locals. Not many tourist find the way there and that was the best for our group. Just mix up with local and share the fan with them. Hour by hour the atmosphere was better and better, and intense. Not only bands played music but also Djs makes lively and bustling cheer. The people started to jump up on the benches hand in hand or shoulder by shoulder and sang the mostly German popular songs.

Pretzels and pork knee was a must but the pork knee was the best.

But it is not just about the beer and food but to a fantastic the Carnival atmosphere contributes a giant Ferris Wheel, games, roller coasters rides, bratwursts and roasted almonds stands etc.

The October fest takes places just next to the train station. So it ease to get in. The rides finish sharp 23:00, the tents at around 23:30

40th Birthday.

My friends and I have just had the most incredible weekend in Bremen. We came in 2016 and having been totally blown away by the festival we vowed to come back.
So when one of the last bunch said can we all go again for his 40th we all signed up. You always wonder going back somewhere for a second time if it can ever be as good as the first time. We shouldn't have worried, it was just as great if not better. The people were all so friendly and welcoming. (Germans know how to party) the beer tents with live bands traditional music and everyone dancing on the benches is something to behold. We were welcomed by some lovely Girls who helped us understand the songs and loved our misinterpretation of some lyrics. It was truly fantastic fun. And after the Big tents/arenas closed around midnight we danced our way back to our hotel only to find a disco in full swing in the lobby. Superb. We've loved every minute of it. Been very welcomed and looked after. Can't wait to go for a third time. Just need the body to recover.

8 of us visited on last Friday of the festival and had a great time. Place is buzzing with carnival atmosphere and music tents were fabulous with plenty of singing and partying going on, well worth a visit.

In day time you could visit with your family or friends and have a great time.
Its big and crowded but have everything you need for a great fair.
If you are interested in visiting the beer-tents, the bayernzelt is the best.
A good as in octoberfest in munich but more party and perfect if you would like a evening to be remebered a long time. Have visited Freimarkt 8 times, and will be next year again.

When I arrived at the Freimarkt it was very busy and not what I expected at all. My brother who has been before ushered us into the large hall and what a sight to behold. It was totally full with musicians on the stage, people dancing, laughing and having a thoroughly good time. The was a cross section of ages and we didn't feel out of place at all. Lots of people were dressed it traditional costumes and this added to the occasion. We soon got into the spirit of things and ended up staying for over four hours. Everyone was so friendly and it felt really safe, it was well staffed and the security staff checked everyone and their bags going into the venue and kept a keen eye on the proceedings ensuring a great time.

If you like we do, like German markets, Bremer Freimarkt is THE place to go.
It is HUGE, and has so many places to eat great snacks, to have a beer, to try the glöhwein etc. There are also so many rides to try, and if you are in party mood, a Munich October fest house with big beers and live music.
