Pretty church in the middle of the Kulturforum
Jun 2019 • Family
St. Matthew's is a reformed protestant church in the middle of the Kulturforum. In the middle of this modern arts and culture center is a church that dates back 100 years. However, as many have said the church is dedicated to the arts with several rotating modern art displays. As a reformed, protestant church this is the only ornamentation in the church. I will also say the day we visited it was very hot, like they had the heat on in the summer. Stop in for a minute will in the Kulturforum.

Contemporary art inside!
Jun 2017
This is a functioning evangelist church with daily services, but it doubles as an art gallery. Inside, this generic-looking red-brick building is nothing that you'd expect. White walls, a lot of light, and contemporary art everywhere - and somehow it doesn't feel out of place here.
If you feel like something more traditional, you can climb the stairs to the belltower (1 euro).

Great view from the belltower!
Apr 2017 • Family
It's a quite small, sobre but nice church. Take the steps up the belltower and enjoy a spectacular view (for free :))!
Also interesting contemporary art pieces in the staircase.

19h century church at Kulturforum with contemporary artworks on display
Dec 2016 • Couples
St. Matthaus-Kirche (free entry) is a small historic church you can visit at the Kulturforum (Culture Forum) near the museums and Philharmonic Concert Hall, just south of Teirgarten. Opening hours are 11am to 6pm daily (closed on Mondays).

Originally built between 1844 and 1846 in Italian Romanesque style, the church was severely damaged during WWII. However it was restored between in the late 1950s, returning it prewar architectural appearance. Highlights are the thin tower which fronts the building and the brick facade made of yellow and red lines.

The interior of St. Matthaus-Kirche is very modest yet also contemporary decorated. The nave and two aisles are mostly white and simple. However, the walls are lined with contemporary paintings of a religious nature. These are a compelling contrast to traditional church artworks. The artworks are provocative, non-offensive and very colourful - interesting viewing for art fans.

In the end, we were glad to see St. Matthaus-Kirche and the artworks on display there. You can conveniently visit this church in 10-15 minutes or longer if you like, after you've visited one or more of the museums at Kulturforum.

Much loved church
Jul 2016 • Couples
This stylish church has patterned brickwork outside and plain walls inside. There are colourful modern paintings on the walls and a famous installation stairs in the floor with a glass cover.
While we visited a musician played a cello.
We went up the tower and had great views.
This is a peaceful place to visit.

A different concert church
May 2016 • Friends
This is a beautiful church that is open for tourists, with concerts in the evenings and art on the walls. It's light and bright inside, and if you attend a choir concert, the sound is amazing. Just a few minutes walk from Potzdamer Platz.
