Hackescher Hof or Hackescher Markt is a restored part of Berlin‘s old Jewish quarter. It‘s a series of interconnected buildings surrounding courtyards whose ground floors are filled with small shops selling everything from high end luxuries to fair trade and tourist trinkets. It even has...More

I walked through the Hackescher Markt in September 2018. It has several restaurants located near the S-Bahn station. Across the way is another complex with a lot of shopping and upscale stores. I was not really impressed by the Hackescher Markt but as I walked...More

This is a popular place for eating and drinking with a good selection of bars, restaurants and cafes to choose from. At night it can get quite lively. I passed through here enroute to a nearby brewery.

This market has lots of restaurants and shops. Full of tourists and locals. The only thing that worried me was the group of tramps that hang around there.

Went there with friends. Each of the courtyards has its own character. Lovely shops, some artsy, some fashion-y, all very interesting. There are areas where you can just hang out and people-watch, e.g. in one of the cafes.

This is a nice old building built in 1907 just a few blocks north of Museum Island. Supposedly, as we read in our guidebook there are eight interlinked hofe (courtyards), but we could only see just one long one. Nice idea but shopping here is...More

The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights
like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum
Island. The central location makes this one of the
city's most expensive places to live. It is here the
oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence
of some significant transformations, as well. The
gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets
between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given
