Phil our tour guide made a drizzly, cold day in Berlin bright and incredibly interesting. Phil's knowledge of Berlin and its very colourful history was enviable. The tour takes in all the major sites as well as some hidden gems. Phil's humour added that something extra and made the day a real highlight to our trip. Manchester UK

I went on the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp tour led by Ronan. This wasn't my first Insider Tours experience so I knew what to expect and I wasn't disappointed. Ronan was hugely knowledgeable and instantly established a great rapport with the group. We were a fairly large group but that didn't detract from Ronan's ability as our guide and he was... More

Our tour guide Nikolai was a lot of fun and very knowledgeable of Berlin's history and sights. It was a 4 hr long tour but it felt a lot shorter. He took us to the most important sights of Berlin and recommended things to do in our spare time. He was very respectful of Germany's history and he transmitted that... More

Great tour, not too long and not too small. Learnt a lot of small details which made the tour more exciting. Cesar, the guide, was awesome. Spoke like 6 different languages fluently, knew a lot about nazi Germany, including stuff from propõe that experiemced it first hand. Made the tour relaxing with some humor in the middle and was really... More

If you're on a short break to Berlin, a walking tour with Insider Tour is a must. It should be at the top of any itinerary. If you haven't been to Berlin before it's just a common sense decision to get an overview of such an historical place from people who love to tell you it's tales. We arrived late... More

We had an incredible tour yesterday with Michael. He was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic. He has a great sense of humour which made the tour engaging as well as informative. My husband and I learnt so much, which gave us the context that we needed to make the most of the rest of our trip in Berlin. This tour hits... More

Staying in Charlottenburg

Neighbourhood Profile
Charlottenburg
Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighbourhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theatres close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.
