From a sightseeing perspective, this monument is only a few minutes’ walk between the Brandenburg gate and the Victory column, and it is worth seeing. Architecturally quite impressive, it is rather interesting to discover. Its intimidating towering statue beckons you to reflect on the reason...More

This memorial is a disgrace and should be destroyed. I understand and appreciate the Russian fight to bring down the Third Reich. The western powers could not have accomplished this without the Soviets. However, this being said, Stalin was no better than Hitler. Millions of...More

What an imposing monument. The Soviet War memorial is located at the Eastern end of the Tiergarten, midway between the Victory Column and the Brandenburg Gate. Over 2000 Soviet soldiers who were killed during the Battle of Berlin are buried here. The memorial is flanked...More

Located in tiergarten between Siegessaule and the Brandenburgh Gate, this monument is dedicated to the Red Army soldiers killed in the battle for Berlin in april-may 1945. Very sober architecture in design with 2 soviet tanks standing guard in the entrance stairs and 2 howitzers...More

Unexpectedly came across this magnificent monument when walking between the Brandenburg gate and Victory Column. A very imposing monument that would be hard to miss.

Beautiful and quiet area not far from the Brandenburg Gate. Huge imposing monument and when asked by my 13/year old daughter why there was a monument to the soviet soldiers who oppressed east Germany for many years we had a really food discussion about the...More

This memorial is not far from the Roma & Sinti Memorial in the Tiergarten. It remembers the Soviets killed in Berlin. An estimated 80,000 Soviet soldiers were killed in Berlin in 1945.

Inscribed with names of fallen Soviet soldiers during the WWII battle for Berlin in gold script, this is an awe inspiring monument to the past. There are era Soviet tanks and a field gun flanking the Memorial. Behind there is a picture exhibition concerning the...More

Big imposing memorial to the dead Russians who were killed in the taking of Berlin. It’s big bold and oh so Russian. Was deserted when we visited. The tanks were interesting to look at.

I like the monuments block with images of soldiers, civilians ...lining at both sides of area. At end of centre court, there is a statue of a soldier carrying a child in his arms. Very outstanding!

Soviet memorial slap dab in the middle of the modern bustling city that is Berlin. At one time guarded by Soviet soldiers, this is a very typical example of a Soviet style war memorial, this one to commemorate the Soviet soldiers who gave their lives...More

This memorial was pretty much deserted when I visited - quite a contrast to the nearby Brandenburg Gate and the Reichstag. It's a fairly typical memorial to Soviet soldiers, slightly smaller in scale than similar examples in cities of the former USSR. But it's still...More
