Our Princess Cruise tour took us along this main street and shopping area and we stopped for a while at the Konzerrhaus and Gendarmenmarkt square in the neighborhood of Mitte. We were not shopping for anything and just looking instead. There seemed to be a wide selection of shops on the upscale side. It was fairly busy on our weekday... More

Going up this street you ll find a lot of shops of the world biggest brands. Also nice restaurants and coffees are located here. The street is centrally located in Berlin "Mitte", and it is as interesting as Kurfürstendamm, but not that crowed.

A very unsightly street with construction works, glass buildings and shops that are all closed on Sunday. There was absolutely nothing of interest in this street. The greatest disappointment of this trip.

This is one of the main shopping streets in Berlin. It is great for a just a walk, but it also offers great fancy restaurants and cheap eats as well. The street also offers plenty of opportunities for great photos. It is a long walk, especially if you are doing it in both directions. It is exciting, put on your... More

This is one of the main shopping streets in Berlin. There are lots of cafes and restaurants too. However, shopping is never on my list when I visit anywhere, so for me this is not a 'must see'.

Although this is only a shopping street when you visit here you soon realise that this street offers so much more than just shops. To start with ,the mix of old and relatively new buildings look awesome and the amount of shopping outlets is staggering buts it's not just shops as there are many fine café's and restaurants here also.... We stayed near here and loved the walk down to the sights such as Brandenburg gate etc lots of shops, eateries and fab bakers. Lots of atmosphere and a lively vibe.

Visited end of November so had all the Christmas lights up which were beautiful. Some stunning buildings and not too commercialised which was a refreshing change.

The highlights for me were the shops, cafes, the architecture--some of it stunning. For a few more weeks, there is a wild and crazy exhibit on the digital frontier at the Volkswagen Forum at Unter den Linden and Friedrichstrasse. It is a hands-on exhibit on how technology is transforming society and free to the public. We almost walked right past... More

Was in town for business and had loads of time post meetings. Decided to explore. There are to many attractions to name and write about, all i can say is take the time to explore on your next visit, well worth it.....

Staying in Mitte

Neighbourhood Profile
Mitte
The centre of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighbourhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
