Private tours are about personalities, and this is where we struck gold. From beginning to end, Sebastian as our Berlin guide and Horst the stalwart driver (from pick up at our ship in Warnemunde, to Berlin and back), made our day with a sense of fun and engagement. Steering the tour towards our areas of interest, Berlin was opened up... More

Humboldt Tours provided a customized private tour for our group of six. We were promised that our tour would deliver "The Story of Berlin." We may not have seen the entire story of Berlin, but what we saw was very close to it, and left us confident that we understood Berlin more than we anticipated we would. From Prussian Berlin... My grandson and I are visiting several cities in Europe and had the good fortune to have Humboldt Tours assign us Sebastian as guide and Wolfgang as driver for two days of touring. The first day was 5 hours of driving and walking to have an overview of Berlin. The second day was 6 hours of mostly walking to some... More

We took this tour with 14 others from our cruise ship. We were somewhat dreading this tour as we would need to travel 3+ hours from our port of Hamburg into Berlin for the tour. We were thrilled when Humboldt came to pick us up to see that they had brought a huge 45 passenger bus for the 16 of... More

I've wanted to see Berlin forever, even the 3 hour drive from Hamburg wasn't going to get in my way! Boy, am I glad I planned this. The Humboldt Tours, with Patrick and then our fabulous guide, Greta, made everything easy. I will say get your walking shoes on this is not just a passive tour, but even a 70... More

We arrived at the port of Hamburg and were met on time and taken to Berlin where we met Greta. We were in her very capable hands for our Private tour of Berlin. Greta did her hometown proud with her knowledge of its History and her ability to present that History to our group. Cheers to Humboldt tours and to... More

We were picked up by bus at the port of Hamburg right on time & drove to Berlin where we were met by our tour guide GRETA. Great is a "Berliner", well educated who speaks fluent English. She is very knowledgeable of her city & gave us an excellent tour of the major sights including Charlottenburg Palace, The Reichstag, Brandenburg... More

We had an amazing 4 days with Sebastian (our guide) and Wolfgang (our driver). Berlin is quite a big city with a lot of historical sites so we wanted a multi-day tour to cover our interests. We did 4-5 hours per day, essentially a combination of Berlin sites, Third Reich and Nazi history, GDR/East German history, the Berlin Wall and... More

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighbourhood Profile
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
