Hi, It’s a great tour to do with the kids. We were a little concerned with the number of people attending ... but did not detract from the walking tour.

After reading the positive reviews about the tour we were unsure if it would live up, but the night watchman is comical and spot on with his history. It was an enjoyable way to see the city and learn some of its history.

Light hearted and informative and suitable for the whole family. The tour takes an hour and the night watchman walks you through the streets at sunset telling tales of yesteryear. Payment is an honour system of 8 Euros at the end of the tour. I...More

Best tour so far ... and I've done few... Don't expect a traditional walking tour, you don't walk a lot... Don't expect a presentation of the main attractions of the town ... you'll get only few Don't expect a lot of interaction with the guide...More

We first saw this tour 16 years ago, with about 20 other people. This year, there were over 100 people that followed the Night Watchman on his evening rounds. I was concerned with so many people that it would be difficult to hear, but Mr....More

Rick Steves (of PBS travel show fame) calls this tour "a thoroughly fun hour of medieval wonderment" and I concur. Mr Hans Georg Baumgartner, a.k.a. the Night Watchman of Rothenburg, cracks jokes about the gritty medieval life with great comic timing. It is a very...More

We took this tour at the recommendation of RicK Steves and others. It was well worth our time. The group was very large but we were able to hear everything.

The Night Watchman's Tour was fantastic! It was educational, entertaining, and humorous. Our family of four loved the tour and we could tell all the people attending really enjoyed it. Highly recommended!

Definitely do not miss an hour with the night watchman! Informative tour, and very enjoyable. We did it in combination with the tour offered by the tourist office at 2 pm (in English daily), which was more detailed than the night watchman, but not duplicative....More

Yes, usually. Tours are mid march until Christmas. No reservations, just show up at 8pm at the market square in front of town hall. It lasts about an hour Fee is 8 euro adults and half for students.
