I have been to Rothenburg many times as a child and this was my second visit as an adult, but this is the first time I went into St. Jakob's. Check out the exterior before entering, being sure to see the very old statues under...More

Old churches in Germany and Austria, including relatively small village Catholic or large Lutheran Churches, tend to be decked in decoration. I personally prefer plainer places of worship. However, this church has a 500 year-old treasure - an intricately carved altarpiece of bible scenes by...More

During our trip to Rothenburg, we decided to walk in and see the wood carving that was mentioned on the Rick Steve’s show. Let me say, it did not disappoint! Even an unreligious person could appreciate the masterpiece that it is with all the detail,...More

We arrived in Dinkelsbuhl late in the day but St. George's Church was open so we entered and sat peacefully for awhile. We'd had two weeks of travel through Europe with our daughter and her family and another week to go, so a moment of...More

To visit inside, you have to pay. The architecture is impressive, but I'm not sure it's worth to pay to visit..

It was worth paying the entrance fee. However, you make sure you either read about the church before hand or have an app with explanation. I used the audio guide. The panels, alters, and interior were are awesome only if you know the story. We...More

Please ensure, whatever you do, you see this place. This is an absolute beauty of a church with some fascinating wood carvings and the blood alter is amazing. Being able to see an actual relic embedded in art was a wonderful experience. The paperwork at...More

Loved this church. I just walked part of the Camino so it was extra meaningful. The altar pieces are stunning. The huge wooden alter carving upstairs by Tilman Riemenschneider was amazing and worth spending some time admiring. There is a small charge - 2.50 euros...More

Visited this church using the free Rick Steve's Europe audio tour. The church is not that special, but has a big importance for pilgrims and changed through out history.

this is a very nice church with interesting altar carvings and stained glass. It is a good 25 minute visit. Expect simple; you will be disappointed if you expect the beauty and ornate churches of some other countries.
