It is amazing and sad how many forms of punishment there were to torture people. I found the shame masks interesting.

This is one of the most unusual collections you will ever see. Medieval Europe was unbelievably cruel and the collection includes torture devices, execution swords, an Iron Maiden, and shame masks. The latter are especially interesting as people were forced to wear them in public...More

I thought this museum was very interesting. Not to big or small. Very eye opening on crime and punishment and, ugh, torture!

Based on all the great reviews we had to check it out but we left after 30 min as it wasn't really our thing. Museum was nicely curated but we preferred to spend our time in the town.

This visit was extremely interesting -- from the prison wagons to the chastity belts (ouch) and onwards. Gives you a vivid sense of another part of the medieval world

Not only do you get to see up close medieval torture devices you've only seen in drawings, but you see devices made to shame and ridicule.

In general this was an interesting thing to do and the museum is very in depth, but there lacked any sort of interactive or modernization of the presentation. I did see one or two touchscreen items, but in general it was just item and description...More
