A very interesting church with several stunning items
Apr 2018
An interesting church well worth visiting to see the extensive work to reveal the foundations and original wall paintings. The baroque interior was well worth seeing as were the graves in the cemetery up against the city walls. Of the churches in Fussen it is perhaps the least interesting so if you are limited for time visit the others first

Franciscan Spirituality in the heart of Füssen
Apr 2018
The Franciscans came to Füssen from Austria in the 17th century and the Church of St Stephen was built between the years 1763-67.The monastory where the brothers live can be found next to the church.Mass is held daily at 0900hrs and many elder parishioners of the Parish of St Mang worship here due to the church being heated and the more conservative celebration of the >Holy Mass.Above the main Altar is a painting of St Stephan being stoned to death. There are two side Altars, one dedicated to Our Blessed Lady and the other too St Anthony. In the middle of the Church on the celing can be found a painting of St Francis recieving the Stigmata. There are also two side altars in the middle. One dedicated to St Crescentia Höß of Kaufbeuren. Her mother came from Füssen origionally. On the other side is the death of Christ remembered with St Francis hugging the cross on which Christ. At the back of the church is a statue of Our lady of Bayern,A picture of St Pio and a small repository selling religious items. The church is open daily from early morning till dusk and is a must for any visitor to Füssen to see.

Old Architecture
Apr 2017 • Solo
The architecture is quite old and intimidating and for somehow particularly interested in history/architecture, this might be quite a good place to visit.

An Especially Nice Spot in the Heart of Fussen Tourism
Jul 2017 • Friends
When Fussen is overrun with tourists - and it is and will be - the monastery is a great break from the main drags and shops. Quiet, sedate, calm, it's a lovely spot and worth a visit. There won't be any Fussen stuff to buy.

Walk Through the Cemetery
Oct 2015 • Couples
Walk through the cemetery to get to this church the path will then lead your past houses to the river which is a beautiful shade of blue. Nice refuge after the crowds at the castles. Nice walk when staying in Fussen

Spiritual Refreshment
Jun 2016 • Family
Daily Mass is offered in the Franciscan Church of St Stephan at 0900hrs,Monday to Saturday. On Sundays and Holydays the Mass is at 0800hrs and 1000hrs.This barock church is open all day for prayer. Many pop in for a few minutes to refresh their spirits. For those on hilday it is worth noting the beautiful paintings on the ceiling and walls. There is also a small shrine of St Cresentia of Kaufbeuren on the right hand side of the church.Would recommend a visit to all.

Worth a detour
Jan 2016 • Friends
Unfortunately the monastery itself was closed, but this is the place to see the end of the Romantic Road! It is quite a surprise, because suddenly the road turns and you are there, and the gate appears right in front of you. Furthermore you have good views on the Oldtown of Füssen.

Monastery grounds and landscaping to soothe the eye.
The kloster itself your usual understated simplicity - a relief from the gothic to baroque grandiosity of the bulk of other churches.
A place for serenity and contemplation, and a delightful interlude so close to all the other must-sees & do's.

Off the beaten track

Excellent church with some good altarpieces. A little out of the town centre so it probably gets fewer visitors than it deserves. It had a pretty little music box which we found rather fun for 20 cents.
