There were a lot of interesting things in this museum, like the special exhibit on the Bavarian lion and the history of the building itself. We found some of the exhibits a tad boring, but that depends on taste. It was a good way to spend a rainy afternoon. If you don't understand German this museum might not be worth... More

This is an attractive museum to walk around. Fussen was one of the great European centres of violin making and this is well covered with excellent demonstrations of construction techniques and many exhibits of ancient instruments.

We went in not really expecting much but gradually discovered a great museum. The first part about the physical history of the building was a little boring but the displays about the monastic life in Füssen were excellent. The large section on making lutes, violins and other (mainly stringed) instruments was really good and then there were the unexpected parts... More

With the Fussen Card admission was only€4, which is about right for this very eclectic display of contemporary art alonside the historic artifacts. The instrument making exhibit was very informative. First time I have ever seen a Hurdy Gurdy

The museum in interesting and basically goes back over the history of the area and what allowed the area to thrive. If you do not speak German, it can be disappointing, there is a book they give you with English in it, but it is poorly put together and hard to follow along with the tour. We got the idea,... More

So this museum would be interesting for German speakers, but not so much for those who don't speak German. Lots of artifacts and cultural gems. I liked the section on violins and lute's but more English signs would have made it better. Also no audio guide which was surprising for a state museum.

This museum is nice even though a large part of the building is being used for government matters. Take the time and walk through unlike the castle next to it there is plenty to see here.

Fussen is a delightful town and exploring it on foot gives a real feel for it medieval heritage. The museum is undersold and needs a better guide in English and better signage, but it contains some gems from the past. The chapel, and the plague painting and the baroque chambers and ceilings. there is also a good exhibit of medieval... More

The old city museum in Fussen was very interesting. Less than an hour walking around on your own, it was about 4 euros per person and we saw many paintings, artifacts, and the wonderful library that looked like it came right out of a fairytale. Cherubs aligned the railing on the 2nd floor that were stunning. Another highlight that is... More

We wandered into the Museum looking for something to do on a rainy morning in Fussen. Well we we're engrossed wandering through the many rooms and nooks of the former monastery that has been converted into a museum. The exhibits are in German, so if the staff provided us with an English translated hand book to use as our reference... More
