I went with my son to the day trip to Neuchwanstein Castle . (Although my son is a young man, not a teenager). Our tour guide was Stephen who was very amiable and worked hard to ensure everyone on the visit had a good time, which we certainly did. The weather was slightly disappointing, but that is the luck of the draw when in the alps. However, the mist did eventually clear so we could get a good view.

This tour is not the cheapest one, but if you look for a relaxed way to visit some sight seeing places this is good choice. We (3 persons) had book this tour and was the only participants, so we were picked up at our hotel in Neufahrn and driven by small bus to the different locations. The guide was local person which did know the area quite week. At first we visited a famous church at Village Rott near to River Inn. Then we visited the old town of Wasserburg also at River Inn. This town has quite interesting shape and nice old buildings and churches. After a boat trip across the lake Chiemsee we reached the island Herrenchiensee with the palace of Ludwig II of Bavaria (1845 - 1885). The palace is a copy of the palace of Versailles in France. Nature at and on the lake is quite nice. A relaxed day trip - only follow the guide and listen.

My husband and I were the only people who signed up for this tour. We were glad to get to know our tour guide better and to have interesting conversations with him. However, we were really interested in Herrenchiemsee palace and Ludwig II and this did not register with our guide. He took us on a detour of other places and as a result we missed the really interesting museum on Ludwig II in the palace. Considering that this tour was quite expensive, I feel rather disappointed in missing the full Hetrenchiemsee experience.

Response from Werner E, Inhaber at Munich Day Tours

Hello Olga, many thanks for the rating. Unfortunately, people are not interested in the museum. But most want to see the castle. Also, the museum is intended only for bridging the waiting time until you can visit the castle. But I understand that a professor is more interested in the museum. This tour is intended for travelers who want to see as much as possible without stress and gain insight into the Bavarian culture and its flair and not just want to discover Herrenchiemsee. I think the excursion description makes this clear.

I communicated with the tour company thro email and also sent them my pickup address. On the day of tour, I waited from 8:15 am till around 9:30 in the hotel lobby and gave up. No response when I tried to call them. May be it is a blessing in disguise.

Response from Werner E, Owner at Munich Day Tours

Hello Vijay, I read your Review. You informed me about your hotel. But you gave me also the information that you may change your hotel. Two days before the trip starts, I have written you an E-mail whether I can pick you up at this hotel or I must drive to an other hotel. The problem was that you gave me no answer. I also called the hotel. The hotel informed me that they have no bookings with the name Vijay. The result for me was that you were not more interested in this tour. I hope you have called the right number because the phone display shows me no call. For your information: As you know the weather was very horrible (severe storm, rain and thunder). Therfore I had to cancel this trip. It would have been too dangerous at the moutains. Kind regards, Werner

We could not have been more pleased with our private guided day tour with Werner. First of all, having the convenience of being picked up and dropped off at our hotel in Munich was a huge plus. The van was comfortable on a very hot day, and Werner could not have been more accommodating. We enjoyed the entire day's experiences, including visiting the light-filled Church of St. Marinus and the charming medieval town of Wasserburg am Inn. The highlight was the boat trip on Chiemsee, lunch on the island with the monastery, and the visit to Ludwig's Herrenchiemsee Versailles twin. We opted to walk to the palace along the beautiful forested path. Gorgeous! Thank you, Werner, for a superb private tour day!
