This museum is not the largest but is well layed out and presented to the public. There are a lot of busts and the majority of sculptures are from Greece. If you have a hour to spare and like Greek sculpture, definitely go. Your ticket...More

The contents of this small museum are beautifully displayed, and there is worthwhile information about the sculptures in English. The most striking sculpture is the "faun", who is shown reclining, drunk, and exposing himself. It is beautifully sculpted and aggressively sexual--a reminder that untamed sexuality was...More

If you are a fan of classical art its well worth a visit. It was a great place to escape the heat and the streets and just sit and look at beautiful things.

Glyptothek Munich is situated near Konigsplatz, build in neoclassical style, and houses State Collection Greek and Roman Antiquities. It's the city's oldest public museum - started from the time of King Ludwig I. I recommend this museum for the lovers of the classical art.

So the Glyptothek barely registers in most guidebooks - I get it, there are other, "bigger" sites in Munich, not to mention a lot of beer available. But if you're into ancient Greek and Roman statue, the Glyptothek is a wonderful little museum, with good...More

One of the three impressive monumental buildings that we enjoyed viewing at Königsplatz is Glyptothek (Ancient Sculpture Museum). This is an early 19th century building built by German architect, Leo von Klenze, who designed each of these buildings based on the Three Orders of ancient...More

You have to be interested in antique sculpture to go. It is a traditionalö museum, but some pieces are exceptional.

The Glyptothek is a must see, quite near Munich main railway station. The roman/greek exhibits are well presented and of great interest. This museum is a must see for history lovers. Tip Sunday entrance is only 1 euro.

I spent 2 hours here during a multi-museum day in Munich. If Classical sculpture is your thing this is the place. The current focus is on the sculpture of busts.

As usual in most museums, they discourage flash and if you're taking pics of anything you shouldn't be, there will be somebody there to remind you. We had no problem taking all the pics we wanted.
