I visited Nympherburg on the 1st of May 2022 with my family and I had a rather nasty experience. We had just entered the mansion's 1st floor hall when I touched the gold plated frame wall...having not seen a warning sign on the wall....Then a dark haired and skin woman security guard approached me yelling at me in German....I don't speak German so the only thing i understood was police...police....My kids and I got paniced....and tried to explain in English that we don't speak German....asking from her to tell us what was wrong...To my great surprise she didn't understood a word I was saying...she was rude and offensive towards me and my children...then I asked for her supervisor...who only spoke English poorly...As far as I am concerned...it is inexcusable to be in this line of tourist business and don't speak at least basic English....and that's what I said to them.... The insident was so unfortunate and upsetting to all of us that we regret having chosen Nympherburg to other Munich sites

This is well worth a trip out.
The palace itself is stunning and you can access the vast grounds for free. We ride out to the palace from the city center. It took about 30 minutes and was very bike friendly and straightforward.
We parked the bikes outside the palace and took a leisurely stroll around the immaculately manicured firings of the palace.

Take the S1 to Laim, then a bus to the palace - a 45 minute journey. We got a group day ticket and went to Dachau from here, so it was economical way to go. Regarding this palace, the outside grounds are huge, it takes 15 minutes to get here from the road where the bus drops you off. Although drizzly, we walked the grounds before entering. Once we opted for just the Palace ticket, we were ushered upstairs to wander through rooms which I thought were less impressive than the Residenz downtown. We were inside less than an hour, and did not think it was worth it. Best to combine with Dachau since they are in the same direction.

Visited the Nymphenburg palace, ground palaces and museum with a combined ticket. The palace is very large and spectacular. The smaller palaces around the grounds are also worth a visit but are spread around the grounds needing a good walk to get to them. The grounds are lovely and wasn’t a problem for us to get around. The Museum is also worth a visit to see the ceremonial carriages and sledges which are spectacular. To get to the palace from Munich centre take the N0. 17 tram.

One of the best palaces you will ever see--a genuine bucket list site. Finding adequate and appropriate words is a challenge. There is almost too much to see...you have sensory overload!
The primary structure is elegant. The numerous outbuildings are well done. The grounds are beautiful. The winter sleighs are fasanating. The art mesmerizing.
If you can go to only one place in Munich, this is it.

Absolutely Magnificent Palace and Gardens. It's size is staggering. It is hard to believe a group of people would call this their summer home. The gardens with all the swans and ducks are beyond beautiful and tranquil. This attraction is probably one of a couple in Munich that is not walkable from the other attractions. The taxi can take you right to the side of the property and you will need to walk a short distance to get another taxi back. The center hall is without a doubt one of the most elegant designed buildings I have seen. It has views of the front and back gardens through tall windows that is stunning. If I had one complaint it would be they really need to do something about the moles on the property. I am talking hundreds of mole hills all throughout the beautiful gardens. The audio guide is really helpful as well.

This is worth the ride out on the tram to see. Nice house with great grounds. We had a guidebook which gave a great overview and pointed out the sites in the gardens which aided our visit.

Beautiful castle with impressive gardens. Unfortunately we did not get to see the inside as we went too late, but we visited the gardens and took pictures with the birds living in the lakes in front of the castle. They are really cool!

Pleasant to see its Gardens, always very beautiful, with ducks, swans and other birds! It deserves to be visited and enjoyed calmly to literally enjoy the beauty, especially if you are lucky enough to have a sunny day!
Prazerosa vista por seus Jardins, sempre muito bonitos, com patos, cisnes e outras aves! Merece ser visitado e curtido com calma para literalmente aproveitar a beleza, especialmente se tiver a nossa sorte de um dia de sol!

Cute palace but it felt like very less for the money we paid. The main rooms are nice to see but a bit expensive. We did not pay to see anything else. Definitely need a jacket if going on a cold day.

Hello, I'm hoping someone can tell me when curling on the canal generally starts? I will be in Munich at the beginning of December for the Christkindlmarkts and am wondering if curling will have started by then. Thanks!

If you intend to spend some time there it is best value to buy the Combo.

Is it reasonable to take a taxi from downtown Munich? About how far would it be? Estimated cost?

I don’t know about a taxi, but what I can tell you is that if you take the 16 or 17 tram to Romanplatz (as there are some construction works) and then take the 17 replacement bus (all of this is very cheap as you buy one ticket for 1 zone) then you arrive directly outside the palace. This is how I travelled to my hostel and saw the palace on my trip, and decided to go. This does not take long at all to do and is very easy to sort out- I think this would be much cheaper than a taxi, and would take around the same amount of time.

Is it possible to purchase tickets ahead of time on line?
Riaan G
Durbanville, South Africa39 contributions
Hi Doug,
Yes, you can purchase them online prior to your trip. The tickets are, however, only valid for 6 months. You can even purchase a combination ticket for 3 of the palaces.
Look for the website Schloss Nymphenburg tourist info, and from there look for the online bookstore where you can purchase the tickets.
Have a good one.
