The building is really beautiful, and the area is a great spot for a photo shoot. It can get pretty packed, but still worth a visit

At three times during the day (11am, 12 pm and 5pm if I remember correctly), you can observe from the Square, a glockenspiel playing while a carousel operates near the top of the tower. Knights fighting on horseback and other figures doing their thing is really novel. You can get to the top of the Town House tower and get a great aerial view of the central part of Munich. Worth the effort and you get to the top by lift, which costs very little.

This is a very grand building which is a must see. Be sure to be there for the striking of the clock and the figures rotate. You can walk through the arch gates to an internal courtyard,

Marienplatz is the central square of Munich and the must go place but one of the reasons it became a must go place is the palace of the city hall
The New City hall was built in last decades of the 1800's , in several sections in the neo-gothic architectural style. The building itself its huge, in the basement you shall find the Ratskeller restaurant - a very good place to eat something good.
In the City hall itself on the ground floor there are several small shops and a part of the building can be visited.
The clock chime or the Glockenspiel is also one of the attractions - I was not lucky to be there in time for that ..., yet , maybe next time.
Overall a definite eyecatcher and a place well worth checking out , I recommend you include it in your Munich tour when you are there , it is a must see.

The major reason to visit Marienplatz this wonderful building. It really does take your breath away the first time you see it and a smile each time that you return. The Glockenspiel is such a site to see the first time. A must do in Munich. Enjoy.

Beautiful building and SO BIG! It's difficult to get the entire building in one photo. I love the gargoyle type statues on the building too. Looks more like a church. Beautiful!

What an incredible building... It was so good to see, as you round a corner and see it for the first time... Amazingly detailed.

Its like having the Houses of Parliament as the centre piece of your market square. Breath-taking but always bustling with hordes of people especially in the evening. Has an interesting inner courtyard.

One of the most spectacular and outstanding attractions of the city! Unfortunately, we couldn’t get a chance to enter. It's hard not to be fascinated by this building from outdoors; you can see how well-maintained everything still looks with all these old structures on top.
