My wife and two adult children visited the Spielzeugmuseum after a Munich walking tour. The museum is in the south tower of the Altes Rathaus in the Marienplatz. Access to the museum is via a narrow, winding staircase to a small gift shop and ticket...More

I found it very interesting and my husband, who is an antique roadshow fan, appreciated it too. I learned a lot about Stieff bears. The staircase to the entrance is a little daunting if you have mobility issues. You can do the other floors using...More

This toy museum isn't for everyone. It is reached by spiral stairs, however it does have a small elevator. There are 4 floors to see and a very nice history of Margarete Steiff who designed stuffed animals.

We found this to be disappointing. First, it is reached by climbing a narrow staircase. Second, the selection of toys was not very great and the signage was all in German. I would suggest spending the time on one of Munich's many other museums.

There is a spiral staircase to negotiate before you reach the cash desk. We then took the lift to the top floor and walked down to the two other floors. Each floor has one small room with a central showcase and several others around the...More

Small museum, 4 small rooms with toys between 18th and 20th century. Requires an urgent refurbishing. Awful smell, bad for allergic people (seems to be an issue with maintenance of the toys and the type of fabric used). The small collections are nice, but not...More

It's very small with only 3 small rooms (and by small room I mean like, you can see the whole room from the doorway.) so don't expect to get that much from it. It's very lovely though, the lift has like this wooden doll house-like...More

The museum is not too big, actually you can walk around and finish it within 45 minutes. However the building makes it worthwile to visit it, it is located inside a tower. The floors are just about 3x3 meters, but you can go and see...More
